I think it's bad to not know how to swim, it's about surviving accidents and all that.

Oh and:

Try jumping in the sea and let's see what happens?

It's not a bad thing to not know how to swim, but its just best if you do just incase the time comes that you'll need to know how to. (:

I'm a lifeguard and teach lessons as a job. lol.
first learn how to float.
lay on ur back and put out your arms and legs to look like an X or a starfish..hehe
then arch your back or as we tell the kids push your stomach toward the ceiling or pretend there is a string connected to you belly button and the other end is to the ceiling....that should give you an arch effect.
Then you head should be in the water, relaxed....you should be floating then.

Floating is super easy, you just lay on your back and do nothing.

Yeah. You should definitely learn swimming. Try taking lessons, or let someone who knows how to swim teach you.

I'd say learning to swim is important. After nearly drowning on holiday I requested for lessons.
No place nearby did them so I had a tutor who started teaching me at school. - It didn't end well, when I discovered on one day I turned up at school to find a mass of police.
She was murdered. A month later I had an award for my efforts because of freakish fear of water had been overcome (since nearly drowned), but she wasn't there to see it.

Life does generally suck.
And although I know I need to learn, I no longer have the option to learn to swim until I move out of my local area.

I think knowing how to swim and learning about water safety is important. You should get swimmig lessons so you learn from someone who knows what they're doing. It'll be faster to pick up too.
