next one??? here:

A boat is moving away from a dock but the person driving the boat forgot to untie a rope attached to a pulley on the dock. The rope is attached to the back of the boat at a point 15 feet below the pulley.

a. If the boat is moving at the rate of 75ft/min away from the dock, at what rate is the rope being pulled out at the moment when the boat is 20 feet from the dock?

b. If at the moment the boat is 40 feet from the dock the pulley can only let rope out at 40 feet per minute, what is the maximum speed the boat can move at that instant?

if you like maths, try www.cut-the-knot.org. It is a site for people who like maths or for those who need help with it. I think it's really intersting, and there is something for everyone, no matter how good (or bad) you are at maths.

I got 1:

yellow divide by pie= ?????
Posted 3/14/07
yellow / pie =

okay, lets assume that each number is equivalent to it's value in the alphabet so;

yellow = 25*5*12*12*15*23 = 6,210,000
pie = 16*9*5 = 720

yellow / pie = 6,210,000 / 720 = 621,000 / 72 = 8652

8652 given that there are no letters with values 86, 65, 52, 865, 652 and 8652 must equal;
HFEB
Which means nothing as far as I know...

Truemonkey has been posting about pie all over the place. Therefore, I don't believe there is any solution to this. By pie, I'm pretty sure he doesn't mean 22/7. Maybe he means a yellow pie like a custard tart or quiche or something.
