If you're looking for a movie about graphics, this is the movie for you.

If you have a hard time dealing with real life actors who have no exp. in voice acting; this is the movie for you.

If you didn't like the Beowulf book or thought Grendel was something other than a werewolf; this is the movie for you.

Is that all sarcasm or not? I mean the movie does hold decently with the story - the only major difference is that Beowulf does not triumph over Grendel's mother like in the poem...Especially in that Grendel is not a werewolf - LOL no such thing existed in the mythology of the day...trolls did though - Grendel was most likely half troll and half human...

It does indeed have good graphics and the voice acting really is more than adequate most of the time...I just think that it could have been put together a bit better, than just having the fight vs Grendel and then Beowulf's fight against the dragon (Note: Both of these fights also differ from poem a bit, but they still occur and the poem has multiple different variations anyway)...Not much in-between...

Where did you people get Grendel was a werewolf? The poem said he was a hideous beast with tough skin and large claws. Maybe you get that from Grendels Mom in the poem being a she-wolf witch, but that still dont suubstantiate Grendel being one because it said they were decendants of Able and Cain, who themselves arnt supposed to be werewolves.

Anywho in the movie, it followed the poem able a quarter of the movie then it veered, but still stuck closer than the movie Grendel. Like where did they get that Grendel's Mom WAS a dragon? And that the dragon was Beowulf's son? Not to mention he was supposed to kill her, not fuck her. lol

Still i liked the movie, and the poem. A must see for people who like good CG and a nude Angelina. Had some pretty good fights in it too. Only real bummer was the end, lacked closre for the movie.

Or a horribly inbred human.

Hell yea. Look it up on wikipedia people. I still don't know what "the book" is. Which one? There are like 50 of them.

And honestly, who the hell knows how many variations existed in the oral tradition. The modern knowledge of this story comes from a single manuscript, which is rotting to hell, and may have simply been the scribe/writers interpretation or modification of whatever versions of the story he heard from storytellers.

So forgive me if I don't care too much about "the original version." What the hell was the original version anyway?

I didn't even know it was animated for the first few minutes, my friends just took me to the movies to see and I hadn't heard about it, the story was okay, but the animation was awesome, it looks so close to real. I was like throughout the entire movie.

We just saw this movie earlier in IMAX 3D and I thought it was pretty good. Don't waste your time seeing the "2D" version of the movie... find a place showing it in 3D.

Honestly, if you hate this movie, then you're either a big fan of "High School Musical" and other feel-good disney crap who can't stand anything that's not feel-good enough, or you're some sort of literary elitist who can't stand anything not faithful enough to the "original story."

In the later case I still have to ask, so what was the original story?

Certainly the 3D animation and the story are better than "Final Fantasy: the Spirits Within" or whatever it was called.
