Until a while ago I would answer NO!!! ... I would totally divide between the works done in Japan and the ones not from Japan... and I always thought that even if an american make a whole manga series with the manga style, format and everything, they should be called different.

But now I got to know an american mangaka that is awesomee... he is so cool, and his series so interesting .... and he also makes video-tutorials of how to draw anime/manga on youtube!
So since then I started thinking different about it ... and I think now that anyone in the world can make a manga!!

I have seen in posts before people commenting about that, of how just japanese people make manga.... so i decided to open a thread just to discuss it!!

What do you think??
By the Way the series I cited before is Miki Falls, and the mangaka is Mark Crilley .... his youtube channel is: http://www.youtube.com/user/markcrilley

I have yet to see one that looks authentically Japanese (if that's what they're going for) and has the full appeal of Japanese work

This is in the wrong Section; Reported~

Anyway, American made ones are called Comics regardless of drawing style they used.

Tho when a Japanese kid reads a Superman comic, the kid'll call it a Superman manga.

Manga are comics drawn in the Japanese art form 0_o As long as the character has the standard big eyes, super small nose (at least in most cases) then it's manga. You don't have to be Japanese to draw the way Japanese manga artists do.

its just about the story right? whether or not its japanese or american doesnt really make a difference. seven seas publishes wonderful ones, like Luna and Destiny's Hand. i think u guys really just dont like it cuz its american...i mean, im not sure whether you've never actually read a real american manga,(not that batman stuff or whatever), or if you guys read it and didnt like it...but all the ones i've read so far, i couldnt even tell it was american until i checked! dude, just give it a chance! geez...
