You don't have to be Japanese to draw the way Japanese manga artists do. That is exactly what I think right now... couldnt describe better =D Now, I recommend to everyone to try reading a "manga" that its mangaka is american or whatever other nationality but japanese and check ... because I think manga and anime is much more of how the story goes and its characteristics (the classical big eyes, chibi faces, and stuff like that) and not who did it =D |

To live is to draw without an eraser!

Looks pretty good, but I'm not in the mood to look through the videos at the moment. But still, interesting...

I've missed you little bastards, you.

Aren't they classified as "graphic novels" if they come in the same small, booklike format that "manga" has?
Also, defining something as manga because it has that generic Rumiko-Takahashi-"influenced" artstyle seems kind of silly. All artists are supposed to have their own unique artstyle, just like how bands aren't really bands if all they do are covers of other groups' songs. |

Alter-Divide wrote: This is in the wrong Section; Reported~ Anyway, American made ones are called Comics regardless of drawing style they used. I agree. This is a funny thing though, considering both manga and comics mean the same thing. In japan, there is no difference, they will call both western and eastern comics "manga," (same with anime) I think this mentality was brought about simply because It's easier for many to differenciate that way? Who knows... Either way, I think that you can really call either or each other's name, it shouldn't matter.imo |

I think American attempts at manga are failures.
We should stick to comics, and should stop trying to imitate Japanese manga. Unless of course, it's good, but I haven't seen any that are. |

Never read an American Manga, but I imagine if they are die hard anime/manga fans, then I don't doubt that it'll be at least OK. it's not where you come from, it's more how good you are with it.

Yes, we're(Karla n i) made of total awesome :]

I think good details in the drawing and a good plot matters, but the manga Emma I thought an American did it...I really don't know what to say about "American" manga, as long as it romace, a good, story and sometimes pretty pictures I'm hooked. Like that Kayano person who does Royal Seventeen and Butterfly Night, her pictures are pretty, it's romance, it has a good story plot and it smut, what more could I ask for???

Is heartbroken...

If its american made but looks just like japanese made then I really dont care,
the ones that look horrible or 'their own style' should just go in the comics section of the book store haha. |
