Honorable Teachers
Posted 2/15/07 , edited 2/15/07
Hi everyone!

Anyways I made this thread to find out if anyone in the crunchyroll community has a Honorable teacher.

I currently have 2 teachers that have been recognized by the USA Today’s teacher recognition program. I think its pretty cool because they're great teachers. ( Yes I said great) They make learning the concept fun and easy. To simply put it, the best teachers I ever had.

Quoted from LakewoodHigh.com:

" Four teachers from Lakewood’s Ninth Grade Applied Technology Magnet Small Learning Community were recognized by USA Today’s teacher recognition program. Lindsay Penney, Judith Hawley, Paul Copeland, and Myles Loveall were recognized in the October 19 issue of USA Today. “Through enthusiasm, energy and innovation, these extraordinary teachers are making a difference for their students, their school and community,” USA Today editor Ken Paulson says. “It’s our honor to recognize their impressive achievements”

All-USA Teacher Team members are selected each year from kindergarten through 12th-grade teachers nominated nationwide. Education professionals in a two step judging process consider how well nominees define and meet their students’ needs, and most important, the influence they have on students and learning."

Now I would like to know if anyone in CR has had any amazing or outstanding teachers.
They don't have to be recognized by anything. Just any plain old teachers that you believed to be great. A teacher that made you understand the concept and not just mumble away what seems to be useless phrases.

Anyways...thats it...I think....

I don't think any of my teachers are recognized but I loved my college history professor last semester. My sociology teacher this semester is great too. I dont remember liking any of my highschool teachers that much besides my Chemistry and Economics teachers. All of them explained the concepts in easy, understandable ways. They also all have a clear interest in what they are teaching and tried to make the classes as fun and interseting as possible.

None that have been recognized that I know of.

Personally, I'd say no. I wonder if this is due to my higher expectations, or worse teachers. Probably both.

Oh and how do they decide which teachers to pick? Dartboard?

Never once had a great teacher, I mainly had to rely on myself for the learning. Maybe my old History prof made some of the material exciting, but overall none of my previous teachers were anything special.

I've had a handful of amazing teachers, most of them IB teachers.
-My 2 AP Government teachers
-My IBHA teacher
-My IB Math Methods SL 1 teacher
-My pre-IB English 10 teacher
-My pre-IB Computer Science teacher
-My Biology honors teacher

Most of my teachers in HS have been pretty good teachers that taught the material really well, but the teachers I listed were just above and beyond.

My grade 6 core/art teacher was very kind, understanding, and artistic. And she was very fair to everyone in the class, and was strongly opinionated of bullying. And I think she won the teacher of the year award. Too bad she past away last year... TT.TT

My best teacher was Onizuka. He was in form of a TV show and wasn't really a teacher, but I think I learned more valuable things from him than anyone during my grade school years. And I haven't even met the guy.

Mr. Hill was probably the worst teacher we ever had, but he was most memorable because his stories about his old job as a road sweeper. Like, how a stray cat tried to loosen its paw from a ripped drink can and went barmy when the RSPCA tried to capture it and the cat basically lost its paw.

He once found a newborn in a cardboard box left in an alley. Also, a discarded full-working CD player. iPods. He used to flog them on ebay. Also, stuff he used to find on streets - needles, papers, drugs, used condoms, money, a dead 3-feet-long rat, dead pets, money, filofaxes, mobile phones, and all sorts of crap.

In a long way round, he taught us to respect road sweepers and not to throw litter. We never did learn anything about sociology during that term.
