I blame that on diet and lazy parentage. Both of which has worsened the past few years.

modern technology isn't making us not as intelligent, but each person's individual knowledge is lacking compared to another individual's. It may be true that we can push buttons and we can receive the calculation, but sometimes, it's just tedious work we know how to do and would rather not do it again. Multiplying matrices is doable, and they teach you this by hand, but calculators help you reach the answers faster. As long as you understand the steps you're speeding through, you'll be okay. As for technology making us lazier, we also have extended life due to it. We also have longer work hours and can work through the night. People being lazy directly from technology is a logical fallacy, but it may be one of the reasons for so many people. Of course, don't confuse laziness with health issues because I know I'm lazy with my ability to type instead of hand-writing (easing my mind), but I am not ill or overweight. I used myself as an example, and I know I do not account for the entire people, but all things in moderation.

I really do think that is the case.
Just take a look at your parents when they were younger and what they did for fun

One day, as I was listening to a very interesting lecture from my English teacher, I heard him say something along the lines of this: "to the contrary of what people think, your generation's access to all this technology simply makes you dumber and lazier, it makes it so you don't have to learn more than how to punch in buttons on a machine, while said machine does the rest, because of this you don't really have to use much brain power, or physical power for that matter" could he be right?, I mean there are so many signs that he is, what are your thoughts on the subject?

OF COURSE! technology is making people more lazier and dumber. permit me to illustrate.

in my civics class, my teacher uses this "automatic stapler". it charges on battery. you just put your paper and it staples it for you. I mean come on. are we really that lazy that we can't lift a finger to staple our mere papers?

I guess so, cause when i was younger i wasn't addicted to internet and all that kinda stuff so i played soccer and just outside with my friends, and now i'm so lazy and i soooo suck at P.E. But then again, what if we wouldn't have internet, then CR wouldn't exist =O (Btw: Yay, it's my cr points anniversary, it has reached 1000 points =D )

Yes damn right. This means more money for us. Seriously, there will no be smart people if there are no dumb people. The only reason professionals make so much money because there only a few of em who can do what they do. So yeah, since technology has made everyone dumber, to all those who aren't dumb, then personally teach your children in the future.

A flaw in this statement is the flavor of technology we are discussing. I recently heard technology described as a form of pseudo time travel. There are some technologies that accelerate human potential, like the calculator or programs like autocad and websites like mapquest. However, there are other technologies like the hammock, programs like minesweeper and websites like bored.com that humans may choose to sacrifice part of their life to.

I'd say that adolescents today are facing a sort of temporal confluence. The time you save by not killing and cooking your dinner you spend waiting for the microwave to beep when your ramen is done. The time you save by not being feverish and bedridden for weeks you spend stoned on theraflu for a night. The time you save by not courting and wooing a lady you spend downloading a companion named "Trixie" to spend the evening with.

Is all technology good? Let's have a look at the H-Bomb. Is all technology bad? I present you with the blender. Is there more time stealing technology than time saving? Probably. There will always be more ways to destroy a house than to build one. But the world is shifting towards being filled with individuals, and many people pick and choose what they do with their time. I never cease to be impressed by the number of scenarios where moderation is wisest.

Well i would´nt go so far as saying that technology is making people more glutton, greedy, lazy etc. Humans are all of those things to begin with so it can only enforce it, but it can also do the opposite, with the technology that we currently possess we can, as humans, do more than we ever could before, I have heard alot of talk about nano-machines lately, with emphasis on human empowerment and development into a greater being, Tehee i call it "Human 2".

Ofcourse you can blame technology for alot of things, but what would be the alternative, stop advancing technologically? Ofcourse i´m against this, and have to say that whoever deems this to be a valid way of dealing with the ever growing number of lazy bastards popping up all over the globe, i say, the easiest, fastest ,spiffiest and overall most neat solution would be, for each and every person themselves to get off their fat arse(i know that not everyone has a fat ass) and do something other than hanging out @ friendster-, bored-, orkut-, youtube- or ( and please dont hate me for this) crunchyroll.com, maybe take up some sport, do their homework, help out around the house, read a frigging book for pities sake.
If you dismiss technology like that, you have no right to reap the benefits of living with it and as someone ,who was probably smart, once said:"Change starts with yourself."

I´d like to discuss this some more, with your English teacher who said that technology is making people lazy, since i believe this not to be true, i can just as easily say that religion is making people stupid.(lets notmake this into a religious debate and just assume i said this to prove a point)
