Uh... I don't think 7 feet is that big for a squid... I thought the largest one was like 20 feet or something. Plus that article is about how deep sea squid catch their prey not about how big it was. Oh turns out the largest one 43 feet. But its cool how they light up. Also on a personal note Squid are Fricken Creepy.

I think most of them stay in the artic regions....since its more isolated and resources are abundant there for the moment. Who knows. And yea the largest seems to be around that size. Man the pic i saw of some of the lesser ones where still surprisingly huge. I wonder if there are still some out there presently....... they probably got all fished out or died due to the ecosystem. I dun think i've ever heard of a huge 30+ foot squid story recently.

*edit*

I hate squid. It's just too exotic for me, if it's even considered one.

I hate squids too, I don't even like to look at them alive or dead.

There was one video about a year ago that this reminds me of. A five foot long octopus tried to eat some university's tiny three foot long submersible. It was robot versus sea monster at it's finest; the footage looked like it came straight out of an Ed Wood movie.
