Deep in the heart of 19th Century London, a young nobleman named Cain walks the shadowy cobblestone streets of the aristocratic society in which he was born. Forced to become a Count upon the untimely death of his father, Cain assumes the role of head of the Hargreaves, a noble family with a dark past. With Riff, his faithful manservant, and Mary Weather, his 10-year-old half sister, Cain investigates the mysterious crimes that seem to follow him wherever he goes.

The plot is just beauiful ^_^..there's some shonen-ai moments, but it's only implied. But it doen't matter because the story is just so amazing! Did you read the 1st one yet? GodChild is the sequel.

I've always wanted to read both Count Cain and Godchild. I've heard great things about both. I'll pick it up next week.

well its by Kaori Yuki so it is good but

it has a weak plot realli if u compare it to her other works
and u have to read her other mangas on the Cain Trilogy to understand its plot better
well i dont know if i should call it trilogy more
like this is the sequal on her story of Cain ( and the first one are sooo old, her art is different )

too bloody for me >.< And I just know that the plot twists are gonna be melodramatic.

It's one of my favorite manga though I agree it's not perfect. I don't even think it's shonen-ai, considering the characters' backgrounds. The two male leads are, described by Yuki Kaori herself, like "a parent bird and a child bird", I think. However, readers can have their own thought on this matter.

Whether it's bloody is just a matter of opinion. Compared with a lot of seinen manga, it's really not that bloody and explicit and the tragic scenes are done beautifully. It's too sad most of the beautiful girls/ladies around Cain have a sad ending.

In short, nice story, nice art and nice clothes, esp. the last 8 volumes. Melodrama is not always bad. I take it as symbolism.

I heard god child was better than cain, but I've never read either. It's a bit too girly orientated for me personally.

I found GODCHILD to be Kaori Yuki's most tightly plotted with the best characterazation ( wow, how badly did I spell that?

Was a shock with all the gory stuff and violence at first (read the Crooked Little House chapter first...when I was by myself in my house...scary) but I got used to it and now I love it =D It's like CSI, 17th century style at first then it gets more deep

I love Cain God Child and the regular Count Cain. I was surprised that I would like the story since i heard it was shoujo story since i didn't like the artist's regular works but I found myself falling in love with the plot. I read the entire story online in two days and it left me speechless. I had to look again at the ending of the manga to see if Cain had a tragic ending but in the end, after everything that happened in his life, somehow I feel there was deeper relationship between Cain and Riff than a parental relationship and I believe Cain was an angel and he took Riff with him in rebirth. Sadly, in death, they were finally free.
