Yeah, I see that a lot, too. The "cool" aura or "kakkoiiness" (lol). But I don't just see it in Japanese guys alone, I actually see it in Korean and Taiwanese and etc. movies/dramas, too. But I get what you're saying - it's kinda hard to explain/describe like you said, but I see where you're heading with this one.

WOW...now that you mention it, it's only in Japanese dramas when i go fangirly and think of..."KYAAAA KAKKOI!!"
i don't remember doing that for Korean or Taiwanese dramas...
WAAAAAIT! Who has watched LOVERS that Korean drama. Main guy was SUPER KAKKOI there!! Especially when he ran back to the hotel door and banged on it like crazy. then when the girl opened the door, he grabbed her and kissed her >.< KAKKOI!!

THERE! I found a time when a Korean guy was kakkoi too! But...I think Oguri Shun owns the definition of kakkoi hahaha.

Coolness,Otokomae,Kakkoi most of the time these terms are often attached to these men as often as rice sticks together

Kimura Takuya - fierce eyes, strong charisma

Yamashita Tomohisa - gorgeous soft features complimented with a mysterious and lonely air

Gackt - a man of his own

Ryo Nishikido - poisoned tongue self proclaimed sexy osaka man

Kakkoiness or the cool air of Japanese men comes from the confidence they carry and the mysterious aura they have. And of course the EYES!!!

i hate it when the Japanese writers make the main guy character all cool and stuff cuz for once i want the main character to have a great sense of humor n not cool at all just like a regular guy in real life

Hmm. I reckon it's true ey? I love Korean and Taiwanese actors as well but it can seem like the Japanese guys have an aura of coolness. They're good looking, laidback and stylish but the thing is, they make it look easy. Like being that cool is just natural to them.

Lol yeah .. Korean guys are wayy too dramatic.

But I like that sometimes (e.g. Jae Hee in Delightful Girl Choon-Hyang). It's pretty funny x)

And idk about Taiwanese guys .. they're .. weird haha.
- they fall for girls out of know where (e.g. Wu Chun -____-)
- Joe Cheng doesn't exactly PWN in It Started with a Kiss haha .
- Well, if anything, I guess Mike He in Why Why Love can be an exception. I loved everything about him, even the fact that he wore Nikes xD .. oh but then again, he was a "good for nothing" kind of person to his family haha.
