id think so. without the financial support of fans, anime companys cant survive

That is why "licensing" exist.

Which is the problem of the anime society today.

If you really love anime, support the system so they can provide more anime.
Simple as that.

Though I won't lie. I have downloaded, but hey who hasn't though |:

I always buy dvds cause i like my collection. i would never go out and just watch it on the net myself unless someone downloaded and put it on my computer for me otherwise i wouldn't bother and if i'd probably then buy it sometime after.

I would never buy a DVD simply out of pity because it's a technological leap backwards. Looking at Crunchyroll and torrents, you can see plainly that DVD sales such distribution materials are obsolete. The consumers no longer need them. If you want the convenience and extras, then DVDs could be a luxury good, but as the main mode of product delivery it's completely irrational.

I want the middlemen to be completely cut out from the profits. No more distributors and no more licenses. Instead, producers have a direct fan based donation pool. The producers set their budget needs and the fans need to donate to a certain amount to match those needs. Once the needs are met a new Anime comes out for fans to distribute amongst themselves online. This way I know my money is going directly to the people I want it to and maximum efficiency is reached. DVDs can still sold for those people who need it and want to buy it directly, but at a much more reasonable price, since the production cost have already been covered by donations. (And I'm aware there a loopholes and assholes who'd take advantage of the system, but this is just an outline of an idea.)

Also I'm not sure how this would effect the types of Animes that would come out, since the motives for creating new titles will be completely driven to please fans. Esoteric and artistic Animes worthy of note but are not "popular" would be wiped out. Children' animes would either be wiped out or be controlled by certain groups of companies or parents (Since little kids have no money).

Many different systems would need to be implemented to maintain the sponsorship of the myriad of artists and entry of new artists. Nevertheless, I do not support the old system of licenses as it's failing to meet my needs as viewer and encourage new innovations.
