Why dont you people post picture of your own cars instead of others you found online? Its pretty pathetic to start a thread about something just to post pictures of somebody elses cars.

Start an intresting thread thats original and about its owners. Not about.."oh this is nice. I want my car to be just like it...." Go out and do it.

Because some of us don't have the money to put into our engines. I for one don't. I rock a AEM intake that's actually made for a B-Swapped 92-95 Civic. Yeah I think some of the pictures are nice. But I've always found function > form, therefore I don't have a tucked engine bay or anything close to it.

Theres a function to most of it. More room really and clearance for larger turbos, different styles of manifolds, side dumps. And mostly for me simplification of the wiring harness. The only thing I have running on the car is the gauges, tail lights and a rad fan. My power steering was eliminated as its really unnecessary for me and i dont really feel much of a difference from it anyway. My alternator is getting relocated to the back to make clearance for my side exit bumper exhaust. It dont take money to clean up an engine bay. Just some time to clean things up... move a few wires around to make it look clean and a can of Hi-temp paint and clear for $10 total you have a much cleaner nicer bay.

I'm sure engine bling has its place, but I don't care much for it. If it's not going to make it faster, why bother? Well there's always the metaphor: "if it don't go, chrome it!"

I think you completely misunderstand tuner terminology of 'engine bling'.

These parts DO make the car go after, because every piece you see that's somewhat shiny or something is actually a new upgrade.

The only time i see "if it don't go, chrome it!" was in an old article in the early 90's LowRider magazines with some guy's pink 93 honda accord. no performance, but only shiny headers, chromed out valve cover, plastic chromed intake pipes, and multicolored wires.

It seems the case here is that I don't share the definition of engine bling with tuners. To me, a part that is for appearance purposes qualifies as engine bling. Like painted or anodized engine parts, colored vacum hoses, aluminum component covers, etc, etc. However, polished turbo piping, aftercoolers, fuel rails and pressure regulators, air intakes, strut tower bars and such, to me, are real performance parts, regardless of their color or shine. But, if installed as eye candy, they're bling. Of course one can always use paint in place of chrome.

I take back my statement then. It's just that i thought you were referring to the pix of the engines posted, which were all polished performance parts etc. non-functional painted or anodized parts are indeed ricer sh!t.

Then again, if i pay $6000 for a full turbo kit or $3000 for a carbon kevlar intake (GruppeM) I sure as hell want it to be seen when i pop my hood.

...unless it's a car that i daily... then i want to do what i've been doing with my cars... anodizing the intercooler, piping, etc. all black and letting it get dirty and collect leaves so the cops don't say anything.
