Christian friendship? It's very important.
A christian friendship should be a realtionship with a fellow christian that you can talk about God or anything. You can go to them with Bible problems and real life problems. Or see how ...the fight with your boyfirend can be solved with God. Of course their crucial their strength your bond with your church and with God.
Doesn't the Bible say to befriedn everyone liek Christ? That means even fellow Christians jsut don't limit yourself to them.

I agree, Rose. It's extremely important to have Christian friends, but you need to have other friends, too. That way they can see Christ workin in your life, and hopefully come to know Him through you. Plues it's so much easier to be with Christian friends. It's easaier to be yourself cuz they won't pressure you as much as others will.

I have friends who go to different churches too and we also debate. It's always good to hear other people's positions on things, even if you're poisitve in yours. My Christian friends, I mostly only see once or twice a week, but I feel more connected to them then I do my other friends. And one of my best friends- who doesn't go to my church- I can talk to bout almost anything. And another one of my best friends I know I could talk to bout anythin and everythin- this one goes to my church. And I love them all so much!

Yah, so we need to be very open-minded when it comes to friends and not just limit ourselves to Christians.

Ok time for Mike to break out the ol' bibliotecha. Or Bible, for those not hip to my terminology. I will quote a verse in red and then in blue will be my comment But I think it is important to have more Christian friends then friends of the world. And to the friends of the world, be a on-fire Christian and you just may have another Christian friend. Friendship is important, it gets us through trials and tribulations in life. And be weary, friends of the world, may not be impressioned by you, and you may be impressioned by them.

1 Chronicles 12:17
David went out to meet them and said to them, “If you have come to me in friendship to help me, my heart will be joined to you; but if to betray me to my adversaries, although there is no wrong in my hands, then may the God of our fathers see and rebuke you.”
God will punish the ones who come, to a brother in faith, in hostility. Be friendly and you will be with friends.

1 Samuel 18:1

David and Jonathan's Friendship
As soon as he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.
As should we be with our friends, love our friends as if it were our own soul

Job 2:11

Job's Three Friends
Now when Job's three friends heard of all this evil that had come upon him, they came each from his own place, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. They made an appointment together to come to show him sympathy and comfort him.
Job's friends came to comfort and sympathize with him, a friend is there in a time of need.

Job 42:7

The Lord Rebukes Job's Friends
After the Lord had spoken these words to Job, the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite: “My anger burns against you and against your two friends, for you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has.
Be friends of that of a pure heart, Jobs friends went against the Lord, and thus they were rebuked.

Proverbs 12:26
One who is righteous is a guide to his neighbor,[1] but the way of the wicked leads them astray.
[1]Or The righteous chooses his friends carefully
The last part explains the verse better than I could of ><

Proverbs 16:28
A dishonest man spreads strife, and a whisperer separates close friends.
Do not talk behind a friends back, do not speak against them, a friend is a friend until the end. (ha ha my own spin)

Proverbs 22:24
Make no friendship with a man given to anger, nor go with a wrathful man,
Self-explanatory

Luke 14:12
The Parable of the Great Banquet
He said also to the man who had invited him, “When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers[1] or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid.
[1]Or your brothers and sisters. The plural Greek word adelphoi (translated “brothers”) refers to siblings in a family. In New Testament usage, depending on the context, adelphoi may refer either to brothers or to brothers and sisters
Do not do things for your friends that you do not want to be returned in some fashion, i don't know I understand the verse, I can't elaborate on it.

John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
A friend is one who could die without a second thought, for that of his friend.

James 4:4
You adulterous people![1] Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
[1]Greek You adulteresses!
ha ha ha, great verse. Do not befriend the world!

James 4:4

Do not befirend the world? But doesn't Juese call us to befriend everyone? Not jsut christians?
Oh does it mean don't befriend those you know are agaisnt you?
Luke 14:12
I think it means don't do somethign for someone unlessthey pay you back. But at the samw time it seems to say go beyond those you know. Invite other people.

I still by you should have a diverse group of friends.

Christian Friendships, what I think, are stronger than regular friendships. IDK, but when one is having trouble it just seems like you have more friends to help you and God too. So I think its good to have at least one Christian friend, it might save you from some things. :)

Also, we should befriend everyone. You could be the one that changes their lives. God wants us to bring EVERYONE to him. So Christian friends could help too!

God has worked in my life amazingly this past year in accordance with Christian friendship! I have made sooo many Christian friends and I've just come to realize how important it is! Christian friendship is the most crucial way for a believer to grow closer to God because it gives you someone to be accountable to! Christian friends build eachother up by bouncing ideas and problems off eachother and sharing opinions about differernt matters.

When Christians befriend eachother and share their testimonies and daily experiences with eachother, they grow together toward God which gets us ready for fellowship in heaven...! This is one of the reasons why Jesus had his 12 disciples, Mary Martha, Lazarus, and a few others. Of course Jesus had many followers who went with him everywhere, but in that circle of people, he had an even closer knit group of friends who were there to encourage him, keep him company, and just fellowship with him. He loved those people as if they were his own family and shared his triumphs and worries with them.

In the same way, it's good for Christians to have other Christian friends to rely upon. There are simply certain issues that our 'worldly' friends (no matter how much they care about us) will not be able to understand or give us advice about in a beneficial way. Christians that are accountable to other Christians are like steel sharpening steel. Both rub against and build upon eachother so that both parties are edified in Christ. This helps us develop in Christ and will prepare us to share our testimonies with nonbelievers.

In the end, this is exactly what chruch is for! It's a place where Christians can have a sense of community and a place where the body of Christ can be edified altoghether. It's my strong advice that you find Christian friends along with your other friends because it's nice to have a Godly balance to all the worldly activities that we participate in each day! Born Again also counts as a place where Christians can grow and edify eachother lol but it's nice to talk to people face to face haha...

Yeah, I used to struggle with that one, too. The thing is it's okay to have non-Christian friends as long as you're the one setting the example for them. If they're leading you down the wrong path, you're better off not hanging out with them.
