I have no problem with nudity and sex scenes (except rape of course). But I do have a problem with panty shots and sexual harassment in ecchi. They are really sick and overused jokes. If the characters are attracted to each other, why don't the authors just make them really have sex with each other (but it doesn't have to be very explicit like porn)? Why don't the viewers think it is hotter instead? Sexual harassment is not hot and is offensive. Do guys who enjoying watching sexual harassment and rape actually misogynists and don't respect women and sexual harassment type of ecchi provides an outlet for them? I don't get why they think it's hot other than that reason. Or it shows how women are socially disadvantaged in Japan and even worldwide?

Some people try to compare ecchi with bishie anime and yaoi. I don't think they are comparable. Bishies do not pose harm to society like sexual harassment does. The latter is offensive because it happens often in reality and is a serious issue and very wrong therefore watchers will relate it to themselves. I admit that there is rape in yaoi too and as a female I find it just as offensive. But the thing is, all the things against males are done by males in yaoi, and all the sexual harassment against females in ecchi is also done by males. Sexual harassment and rape done by males against women and personal trauma and stress caused by them happen far more often than those done by females on males. The more patriarchal a society is, this is more likely the case.

I have a question for guys: would you be willing to watch ecchi where females sexually harass males, guys in underwear are looked at by females and females are peeping toms to see guys naked bodies? If the answer is yes, why anime makers make more of such ecchi anime? Don't guys like being desired by females? I am sure those activities will be less related to real social issues and are still hot.
