I was really good but like everyone else said, it was a bit rushed. Then again, if it was long, then I'm sure they would have BSed even if they only used 26 episodes.

Imo it was an average anime.

The main reason is the plot has been rushed far too fast.
The first episode had some funny moments but was too confusing it would be better if the funny part started at half-time for example.
The second thing is the explination of the levels and rooms/halls from the tower. Why has it been explained? The plot was that fast that it could be left out.
There were too low climper parties. At last only the introduced characters and some others which had low screentime reached the top. The others just died in the "ice valley" imagining that there were more summers of Anu, there should be at last some experienced climbers and a top climber(who has reached the highest level so far),
As RPG Adaption there should be at last some kind of invisible skill/hp/experience system and a public class system like: Guardian, Cleric, Warrior, Ranger, Thief, Mage etc..
I had the feeling that strenghtdistribution hasn't changed from Episode1 and the strenght only has been related to items, and in this short time the only dangerous fight hasn't been shown or was 1 dragon against 100+ climbers.

But somehow I got the feeling from the opening that's all just a movie, created by that characters-->At the end you see a poster with "The Tower of Druaga...." July 2009 in theathers.

At last the anime had some funny parts and rather was based on it.
The characters had their individualities but sadly mere development and 2(3?) of them already died.
The atmosphere was fine.

There also were points that didn't make sense like the cities in the upper levels. It has been said that there are monsters everywhere and they only are weakened by the summer of anu so why is sobody living there or how do they survive the other time?

I also agree with the opinion that 26 episodes would have been better for character and plot development so out of plot or semiplot episodes like Episode 1 or the "Coopa leaves" / "Video game" episodes hadn't such a big effect at all.

Hi guys!

So the FINAL episode for The Tower of DRUAGA -the Aegis of URUK- is coming out this friday, so I thought it'd be a good time to recap and review the past 12 episodes (well not each individual episode, but the series as a whole). So warning - there maybe *SPOILERS* ahead! I'll try to put things in spoiler tags, but I might miss something -_-;; I've never written a review before (I kinda tried with Claymore a while ago but utterly failed), so bear with me, I'm gonna try to make it professional sounding and actually capitalize words =D I watched the downloaded AVI version from Crunchyroll and not the streamed version (yeah I know, I'm spoiled by the quality ;P)

So what did you guys think about the show???

it was a great anime.....the review was awsome btw..! like the end part of it how u discussed the themes it explore lol...i hate when people watch anime and completely forget these kinds of things because SUPER POWERS AND FLASHY BIG BANGS u know all the kool looking stuff lol...

Also they leave a lot of things unexplained just to make everyone more eager to watch the next episodes! think about it, would u be more relieved to finally see the next season in 2009 then if it were released next month? it was bad enough they made as wait weekly just to see the next episode! LOLOL! but good strat to get more viewers on edge

I really like the anime as a whole. I am just kind of pissed with the ending.

The series still aren't over, watch the damn episode till the end before you say it's over.

I don't know if there is a 2nd season or if it's a movie or something (can't read jap), but I can explain your other points.

The opening is just that, an opening. Maybe it's a dream Jill is having, but that's that. Don't dwell too much in it, since it may just be a parody...

As for a top climber, there's one. If don't even know who he is, I won't bother talking to you until you REALLY watch the episode.

The 1st episode was just a funny way to introduce some of the main characters, nothing too serious.
The other episodes were to relax, it doesn't have to be an all-out serious anime.

The people live ONLY on the lower levels, the monsters usually dwell on the higher ones, ocasionally falling down to the humans place. Did you see that upside-down city? They probably live there in the summer of Anu and fall back when it's over. Maybe some huge monster knocked down the city after the previous summer had ended, I don't know.

About that exp system, this is an RPG adaptation, not an RPG itself. Meaning the only thing in common with the RPG is the characters and setting. Exp and whatnot would complicate it, in a meaningless way.

The characters did develop, the only one who didn't was that guy who got killed by Pazul and Pazul himself. And maybe Neeba. Everyone else did show signs of maturing, or atleast some change, for better or worse.

The fights could be better, but that would be pointless. Again, the main focus is on the characters relationship, and that's that. This is not Naruto, Bleach or One Piece. Bear with it.

It's not that they didn't get stronger, they already were, they just didn't have the confidence to prove it. It's a matter of will, not Rasengans, Devil Fruits or Zanpakutous.

And about the "betrayal", you and everyone else do not even know the reason behind it, and Neeba could have killed that armor guy on the spot, but chose not to. Wait for next year to see exactly what was that made him do that, and THEN judge.

Regards

Enjoyed the episodes as they came - characters, art & ... something else.
To be honest I went over to Youtube for smoother streams, HQ & fullscreen, but thanks for bringing it to CR.

Looking foward to Sword of Uruk in '09

Yeah... Now if only Jill was blond and Kaya (hmm, maybe Fatina, since she loves Sasu..., I mean, Neeba ) had pink hair...

Pazul would be our little snake friend, wouldn't he?

XDD So I wasn't the only one who thought of Sasuke when they saw Neeba. I'm not alone~.

I have to agree that it was a bit disappointing with the sudden ending but a second season is something to look forward to. Despite it not developing as much as it could I still liked it. If it were to get licensed I would consider buying it--which is rare. I want to know more about Jil and Neeba's history as well. A lot of what Shinji said I have to agree with. That's about as much as I can contribute as a review.
