Yes and No.....when i was looking at review on a game they give it good score, 8.5, but comments in the bottom say that the game is not worth buying. so i ask myself. should i follow the review or just buy it cuz i like it. i usually don't base my game buying on reviews unless the game is the "most anticipating game of the year" becuz sometimes they just say that becuz it has a huge fan base. but other games that don't have a huge hype like other games i tend to just see what the reviews say just to see some game footage. sometimes i put them aside in my head if i want to use the review as my guide to buying games.

Dude I have freakn wonderfull news, if your not rich and can't take chance's, theres these AWESOME things that let you RENT games for a small fee, so you can TRY IT YOURSELF, before you buy it, and if it was good and short you didn't waste your money, if it sucked you didn't waste your money, and if it was good now you know what to buy!

NEVER trust review sites, they are paid by companys through advertisements, if they don't give a game a good store they company will pull there ad's, IE if people game GTA 4 the 6/10 or 7/10 it deserved, then Rockstar would say suck my balls I don't pay you no more, then pull ads from whatever place, meaning they get less money.

It's best that you find smaller reviewers, and people who do it for fun or whatever, but you have to make sure there not like baised fanboys or anything. Umm like Yahtzee or something ( for the most part at least, he is baised to RPG's, mostly Japanese ones) Or you could like I said, rent games.

Not just that, but the reason you shouldn't really listen to reviews in general is because there is no such thing as an "objective" review. Reviews are always based on the opnion of the reviewer, and holds no more weight than the opinion of an average gamer (no matter how professional thet try to make themselves out to be. A reviewer may say a game sucks, but would that really affect how you feel about the game? Chances are no, if you like it you're going to play it and enjoy it anyways and vice versa.

Smaller reviews isn't that better either. Every single review no matter by whom is biased in some way. If someone plays a game and likes it, he'll overrate the game's good points and will underrate the flaws (saying how it hardly affects the game etc). Likewise, if that person hates it, he'll be quick to point out flaws that to you may not even feel significant.

And there are certain things that many gamers/reviewers can't seem to agree whether it is a flaw or not. Example, DMC games have really cheesy and campy dialogues. But half the people think that it's the result from terrible writing and treat it as a serious flaw, while the other half thinks it's cheesiness adds to the fun of the game and is actually a good thing.

No, I do watch the reviews though, only for fun

But, if I do ever listen to a review, it would have to an indie reviewer.
Like NoobToob or Yahtzee, I guess.
What other indie reviews are there.

(well, I guess you can't really call Yahtzee indie. Maybe someone who works in a smaller group?)

I only see games in their popularity and gameplay.

Nope. I usually hear of games via fanbase nowadays (i.e. Gundam games, Super Robot Wars)

Yes/sometimes
Well I buy some magazines which mostly tell what they really think about the game and not just say, it is awseome buy it now, because the large companies pay them. They always put the good stuff and the bad stuff and I have played many games which I've read about in the magazines and reviews I read and they are 90% acurate. Example
SSBB
Good = Great Music
Bad = Not many changes from the previews one, slow internet conection (I had to traduct here so may be a little different)
I love me magazine. And for internet reviews I always go for the neutral more mature reviews which not only say stuff like it's the best game of all time or I hate it.
Also Iask to a thousand different persons and search a lot before I buy anything

Well rarely,if i'm aiming for certain games,i'll probably search for
gameplay videos (if it's available),if not,probably magazines.

i read reviews from a few different mags. i read internet reviews and i look at forums where people are talking about the game.
without reviewers it would be harder to find that lesser known game that you would like as opposed to buying something from a huge franchise. games are expensive and i won't take the chance to buy a game whether or not it looks good based on the cover

I like to refer to reviews in magazines or on websites to get an idea of the game's mechanics, story and so on. I realize that most of them are based on one person's personal tastes so I'll take their opinion and form my own when it comes down to buying the game.I don't let it influence me too much because I know what I like and what I'll play.

I usually play games from my friend's or other people's recommendations. I only look at reviews if there isn't enough info or I'm on the bench about the game.
