In August, I'm getting my wisdom teeth removed and I'm really nervous. Everyone talks about how painful it is and how much i'll hate it.

What's it actually like? Can anyone that's gone through it offer up some advice?? Does it hurt that bad?

I'm really worried because I know that a girl from my school had a pretty serious reaction to the surgery and had a seizure. scary scary. but if i don't do it, my teeth will be shoved out of alignment.

Its those things u just have to deal with, nothing u really can do. Seizure you say about the girl....ya thats scary but it cant just be because of her wisdom teeth... anyways it should be painful cause they either numb it or put you to sleep. Most likely they will put you to sleep when they do it.

it doesn't hurt. they numb your mouth/gums. it does hurt when they numb it. then they drill it out for about 30 minutes and when they take it out they stitch it back. then you it heals (stops bleeding) for like about 3-4 days. after that go see your dentist and it should be ok minus the whole where the tooth should be but it eventually heals up and no more hole. oh yeah during those 3-4 days you have to put a goss in the whole and the stitches dissintergrate so you don't need the dentist to take it off. and in the 3-4 days you can't eat solid foods only soft. drinking is also not recommended but still can but you might taste blood with it. no drinks only water. no soda becuz theres sugar and what not. and you can't gurgle. when you can finally start eating normally they give this thing that when you spray it, it takes out the food in your mouth.

3-4 days on mash potatoes and noodles are not the best combination for eating in 3-4 days straight. i ate one chip and when i saw the dentist they found the peice of chip in the hole.

Hmm, depends on the dentist doing it. I had mine done about 4 or so months after getting my tonsils out, that year was a crummy year. I got a dry socket after the surgery when it was healing so it was a painful for me. The surgery was a bit creepy for me since I was still awake and before then I had never even had a filling, so it was like. And the doctor was weird and kept calling me I forgot it was some pet name or something. But it wasn't probably as bad as having your tonsils removed, though the dry socket really was annoying. But once it's over with you'll just have to focus on the healing process and such. Don't worry they'll give you pain reliever for when the numbness wears off, you'll make it through it. Though you'll probably complain for a bit, but it's not like some horrible life scarring experience or anything. It may be a bit freaky to have them drilling in your mouth and taking out pieces of your wisdom teeth and such. But you don't really feel it, and if you do feel it a little bit it's not extremely painful, it's just weird. I'm not being much of a help am I?

But in the end you'll be glad you got it done with, just be sure to get the pain reliever before the numbness wears off. My parents put it off and well, yeah though I must say something cool will help a bit with the pain, whether just holding some ice in a towel by your jaw or something will help with easing the pain and lower any swelling that might've developed. I had it done like 2 years ago so it's hard for me to remember all the specifics except for the surgery and pain. But when it finally healed it was such a happy day for me. Just listen to what the dentist says and ask him questions if you don't understand, if you have a nice person performing it they'll be able to put your mind at ease. It's not that bad really, you'll be able to deal with it, it's not going to be like running through a field of daisies, but it's a surgery depending on if it's deep in your gums or not. But anyway you'll do fine, in the end you'll be glad it's over and done with.

Mine was ok. But there might be some after effects. One side of my jaw is kinda screwy now.

If it's just a normal one then you won't have problems; If you have one of the rare cases like horizontal ones that has no intent of coming out, then you're damned.
I got 3 shots to numb me but the cutting of gum, drilling of my rock solid tooth, and breaking it piece by piece hurts like hell. A nightmare that left my gum swollen for 2 whole damned months; Plus you won't be able to eat normally for a whole week. Anyway, prepare yourself for the worst.
This is what I'm talking about.

My wisdom teeth grew properly so I'm not taking it out.

And they are not causing any pain to me.

But if there is pain, I'll definitely remove it although I know the result is damn yucky.
