but it looks like they are cool with it. for some reason i kinda want this to happen in america. i mean i'm seeing tooo many obesed people everywhere.

then why not have a skinny tax too??

lets make it so that if you dont have the body of an athlete or bodybuilder you get fined.

what if both of those taxes come out. man! everyone would look hot!

I think thats a GREAT idea! Everyone in the world who are fat should pay fat tax.
Maybe then, can they start doing something about their fatness. >__>

so tell me.. How fat do you have to be to pay fat tax?

Bet it goes by exactly how much extra weight you have like 5% per each extra pound. My Japanese friend told me about this, she said something about the lack of space in Japan... I think this is funny cause I am not fat..but I am also not surprised about this in Japan, since I think they are crazy about being very thin. The recent new manga or anime all have very thin drawn ppl, even more thin then just a year ago...

It seems like a pretty good idea but on the other hand it also doesn't sound fair and it isn't right to discriminate against over weight people >.>

fat tax? wow...so not only will they ahve to pay for food they'll ahve to pay for tax?
i honestly dont think thats ethical. some people are just born to be fatter than otehrs, and endorsing this tax wuld be saying that fat people are bad people. there are so many misconceptions out there about the 'perfect' image thats thin and beautiful, but in reality you are just WHO YOU ARE. our society is screwed up.

but aside from sumo wrestler, Japanese people are just Naturallyy skinny for some reason. i guess it wuldnt be a huge issue there...

That would make you even more worth it if you're fat yet your company sees fit to keep you due to your skills.

It's up to the individual to get healthy, not the government telling you to get healthy.
Ha ha actually yes we do charge tobacco users for their habits. In most states in the US there is an extra $1.50 or $2.00 tax on tobacco. So what do you purpose we do about the declining health of Americans?

and australia.. apparently australia's the fattest nation now.. O.O

fat tax.. hmm.. interesting.. just a thought though, what if some people get so paranoid about gaining weight or going overweight that an anorexia/bulimia crisis happens?!
Eh I could see Australia being the fattest nation, then again the population is smaller.

hmm wow an actual valid point as to how this could be a bad idea. But personally I think that abuse of diet products would come first

seems pretty fuckin gay if you ask me.
there are way to many fags and metros in japan who are skinny anorexic bitches. and they want to encourage that!?
good idea my ass.
It is not about sexuality my friend, it is about general health. If you are not healthy you will spend more time at the doctors office. If you spend more time at the doctors office there is more expense on the insurance.

Yeah Americans always want to fight the government.... granted it is a health issue and there were no riots in the street when an increased tobacco tax came along.

a legal nightmare because what is fat? do they mean overweight, and it would be impossible in the US because every ethnicity has different metabolisms and average weights, it is sort of the height and weight charts that we used to use until recently (from the 1950s which was the average of white caucasian boys and girls) and asains show up as below average in height and weight when they r in fact at the ideal growth rate

Reminds me of some other stupid laws that got repelled after protests and riots.... and in the US there r some crazy and/or outdated laws that make no sense in today's world...
Ha ha, I am pretty sure we have more of that data today then we used too. I am sure that we could deal with the issue of ethnicity.

Well if they don't like the discrimination then they can lose the weight, it is not like they have no control over their weight.

True, it is harder for some to lose weight. But then again, you can always consult a doctor, and find out if you are one of those people.

I am not asking for the perfect image, I am asking for healthy. And if you are lugging around 50 extra pounds of fat chances are you are not healthy.

Japanese people are naturally skinny because of their diets. They eat lots of vegetables and fish. That kind of stuff is generally healthier for you. So if your diet is healthier you will be healthier.
