What do you think of Lenalee Lee?

Ppl keep saying they hate her cuz she cries too much. I can understand her, there's nothing more painful than to watch ppl u love fighthing witout being able to help them. Being powerless is something rly painful so there is nothing wrong with her crying or maybe it's just because not every1 can try to put themself in her situation.

Haha. I usually just use this site to watch shows, and I happened to stumble upon this.

I'm going to go against the mainstream and say, 'I LIKE Lenalee'. I loved her at the very beginning of the series, when she was strong and it was clear she held secrets of her own. She had so much potential to be a strong female lead. But then, all of a sudden, she starts getting weak. And, I admit, it bugged me, too. The battle with the Level Three akuma totally redeemed her and she got back on my favorites list. But then, she loses her ability to synchronize with her innocence, and the stupid story tellers decided: Let's just make her weak again! UGH. But, again, nearing the end of second season, she redeems herself,and practicually takes on that Level four by herself (and, let's admit it people, Allen became her sidekick for a bit in this battle...but if you're really picky, Cross technically did in that thing, LOL).

So, okay, get ready for this people: (remember, I warned you )

I can totally understand how annoyed people are because of her crying, but I love her backstory way too much to hate this character. This is my opinion: I think Lenalee represents the psychology and emotionality of the show. All these characters (or, the main exorcists, I should say) - Allen, Lavi, Kanda - they keep everything - every fear - bottled in. Allen's smile is a little heartbreaking, Lavi's grin is completely fake because he's taken on the persona of 'Lavi', and Kanda is so physically cold. I think these guys kind of use her as their means to connect with humanity. She's vulnerable...and they refuse to be.

ANYWAY (lol), with a past like Lenalee's, it's hard not to think about the mental damages that result. And the creator of this series (whose name I will not attempt to spell because I suck majorly at spelling), shows us how each person takes to it differently. Lavi can't have a heart because he's a Bookman, so he chokes it down and carries on in his duties (though it's clear that in the anime and manga, he's becoming very attached to his 'friends'). Allen refuses to allow anyone else he cares about to get hurt, so he vows to protect everyone (particularly Lenalee); in fact, he even wants to 'save' the akuma and the Noahs (Hero-complex much? LOL). And Kanda just suppresses everything and chooses to suffer in silence. Hence, an emotional and crying Lenalee.

So her parents are killed by akuma, she gets taken away from her sole surviving relative to the Black Order at an extremely young age (my guess would be, from the images of the anime and manga, she was somewhere between 3 and 5), and she's forced to wear a weapon (and, if you think about it a little more, she's forced to become one as well). She's little, she's scared, and she wants her big brother. Strangers are experimenting these boots on her, telling her she's an apostle of God...and honestly, who in their right mind at such a young age would understand that? In assumption, she's forced to fight for a God she may or may not even believe in (one of the last episodes - the third to last maybe? - is entitled 'to The God Whom I Hate' or something like that). The result: she attempts suicide. The Order finds out, so they chain her to a bed. And then, of course, Komui (sp?) arrives. And everything, from then on, she does for the sake of her brother.

She cries because the Black Order is the only family she's ever known. She grew up there.She's lost her real one, with only her brother left. So her friends become her family. And she'll be damned of she loses them, too. If she is the heart, I think it would make sense. Since the theory goes, if the heart is destroyed, then all innocence are destroyed as well, then wouldn't it make sence if it's the other way around, too? She said it herself in one of the episodes, that every time one of her friends dies, she dies a little as well. Ack, or maybe I'm taking this too literally...

But, anyway, she's a kick butt fighter.

I don't know about you, but I don't think little girls (or little boys) should have to kill monsters.

Well, in my opinion she`s litle annoying. And don`t ask me why, cuz I don`t know, she`s sometime like a babyO.o
I liked first time when I saw but now for me is little annoying.
I mean, geez... in every anime I have a character that I don`t like very much so.. in D. Gray - man it was to be Lenalee. C`st la vie.

I..rather dislike the character..she does indeed whine too much and though she does some stuff and well...she is a pretty useless character who even if she does work she has to whine about it first. Yes she has a tramatic past but the main character of my series does too and he don't whine about it at all, he tries to move forward and get stuff done. I prefer Lavi out of all the exorcists he seems to be the only one who gets stuff done without whining about it. Lenalee just seems like Sakura 2.0

except Sakura has had no tragedy in her life except the lame crap that happens during the series.
There needs to be dialogue like that or the manga would be over awfully quick - it's just easier to have that sort of whining with a female. I agree she overdoes it for what I see as ideal, but in real life I would be surprised by her will. I mean, she's attempted suicide so in reality she would still be fairly depressed. She's handling it pretty well then.

Hard to think about it too realistically when it's a manga though, haha

I suppose in a real life situation yes I would understand, but still the past is the past and you need to move forward thats all there is too it. I just dislike Lenalee and thats my straight forward opinion honestly my favorite character from D. Gray-Man does not even last long which would be Chomesuke.

at first.....she seemed cool...........weak character but cool



.BUT THEN THE AUTHOR HAD TO MAKE HER SEEM STRONGER WHICH SUCKS!!
CUZ SHE'S ITS OBVIOUS SHE"S A WEAK CHARACTER BUT WHY IS THE AUTHOR TRYING TO MAKE HER SEEM STRONGER?

I wish she wasn't a main character.....she's better as a support.......

I hope she dies eventually and isn't the heart...........if she is.......then DGM is ruined.......
