So, plenty of people get worked up over what music makes you into this or that. On my opinion it gets very annoying, especially when I have friends who listen and dress one way, but act totally opposite of what people would stereotype them. I don't think that the type of music you listen to should define who you are. Plus, there are people who listen almost anything, and what are they? Case and point:

I listen to:
-Jazz
-Pop
-Rock
-Metal
-Scream-o
-Classical
-Punk
-Emo
-Rap
-R&B
-Country
-Hip-Hop
-Indie
-Alternative
-Dance
-Electro
-Dance
-Show Tunes
-Soundtracks
-Blues
-Any other genre I left out

So, can you label me? Music doesn't stick a label to people.

Yeah, people can't label me either due to the fact that I enjoy:

Black/Death/Progressive/Doom/Thrash/Grind/Heavy/Power/Folk/Avant-Garde Metal (and other sub genres in between aside from Goth)
Blues
Classical
Ambient
Electronica
Lounge
Virtuoso
Underground Hip-Hop/RnB/Rap
Jazz
Progressive/Classic/Alternative/Post Rock
Swing
Crust Punk
Fingerstyle Acoustic

But then again, real Metalheads automatically enjoy blues and classical while guitarists automatically enjoy classic rock. It's like a default thing.

True about the metal/blues. They go hand in hand really.

me its
Genre - Fave Band

Folk - Any songs ( Ring around the rosie yadda yadda)
Rock - LedZepplin, Acdc
Metal - Meshuggah, Opeth, Death
Blues - Jimi Hendrix
Jazz - Cant really mention a stand alone favourite.
Old RnB - Aretha Franklin
Soul (little bit) - None in particular
70's Pop (only a few) - Moody blues
Vituosou - Steve Vai
Acoustic - Bob Dylan
Progressive - Pink Floyd
Classical - Canon in C (Awesome piece)
Orchestral - Trans Siberian Ochestera
Cover song adaptions mainly from pop to rock/metal. - (Shout - Disturbed)
Swing - None in particular
Lounge - None in particular
Ambient - Tesseract (Metal but Very ambient)
Fingerstyle Acoustic - Andy Mckee
Crust Punk - People Again
Hardcore - Poison the Well
Early Punk (The Clash)
Underground Hip Hop (Very VERY little but there are a few that are lyrically and musically joyous)

That all being said, Meshuggah are the most important band out there and my favourite band. They have influenced some of my favourite bands and are one of the few pioneers in polyrhymic music. But Guitarists like alan holdsworth need to be mentioned.

Meshuggah is fucking awesome. Fredrik's tone is just so crushing.
