Thanks first off for the replies to my first few threads! I'm inspired to do more so I thought of taking a general topic for now until the summer for the movie scene, mainly for the Summer section (May-August). I'm giving a 2 for one by giving also a quick thought synopsis on those movies. So sit back, input your thoughts on what will do well or is just hype, give some other picks too I might miss or that are dark horse/diamonds in the rough picks and enjoy!

Just to wet the appetite, here are some quick dates and info on movie coming during March-April:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (March 23 redo by the creators with a large cast with stars such as Zhang Zihi, Patrick Stewart, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Lawrence Fishburne, voice actors like the late Mako, Kevin Michael Richardson and Grey Delisle, and cameo Kevin Smith)

Blades of Glory (March 30 with Will Ferrell and Jon Heder as an ice skating pair)

Grind House (April 6 horror flick from directors Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez)

The Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie (April 13 of the Cartoon Network's controversial show)

This Summer:
Spider-man 3 (May 4)-Critics said the comic book genre would die by now; not if there are directors writing good plots while playing for the fans. This movie won't likely go the way of X-Men 3 (thought the director change was risque itself). After finally seeing Traffic, I think Topher Grace will do just fine along with newcomer Thomas Haden Church.

Shrek the Third (May 18)-I love the movies that play towards all audiences, and Shrek continues to be fun for kids while giving adults the insider jokes. And they will do better with the villains upheaval idea than Happily Never After. Puss in Boots pwns!

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (May 25)-OK I have not seen the 2nd movie yet (though have played the level in Kingdom Hearts 2 and it was great fun), but I'll still say the conclusion will do fine, with Depp so hot right now. And Bill Nighy, Geoffrey Rush AND Keith Richards in the same flick? Silly elders rule!

Ocean's Thirteen (June 8)-It might not be as fun but George Clooney and his posse should do just fine (eg. Brad Pitt, Don Cheadle, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia...)

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (June 15)-I'm not as much of a FF fan, but I do like the previews of the Surfer who has quite an interesting background. If you give substance to your CG, this can do well.

Nancy Drew (June 15)-I put this here since I know at least the draw of the book coming to live action will draw some. Will Harry Potter help or hinder though?

Ratatouille (June 29)-From Brad Bird of Disney's Pixar fame, he is also a hot player with Cars, Toy Story and Incredibles to name a few, along with bringing in lots of Miyazaki's movies to the English make. The thing that might hurt is a relatively lesser known acting cast, but again, if the animation is given good plot and characters, word of mouth will make this one big.

Transformers (July 4)-Gee, if you watched the old cartoon what is not at least peeking your interest? The previews look good and it was smart to bring in Peter Cullen back as Optimus Prime's voice (while still awaiting to see if they will have Frank Welker too, who has already tested for the voice of Megatron, which he did on the old show). Again it will take a lot to get used to another storyline view of the series, but then again this series has so many spawnings to begin with (I so miss the original Beast Wars cartoon...)

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (July 13)-Again I'm sorry to say that I don't follow the books or movies but I do know this series is huge to draw fans, along with the last book's release a week beforehand. I feel sorry though for parents, whose wallets will be a bit emptier as this date.

Hair Spray (July 20)-Again I just put this here as musicals are hot (eg. Chicago, Moulin Rouge, Dreamgirls) and this one with John Travolta leading will get some attention.

The Simpsons Movie (July 27)-OK this one is tough for me. I still watch the reruns but haven't really wanted to watch the newer episodes. The trailers do show touched up animation, but I fear like other animations/cartoons that go to the movie theatres turn out to be just extra long episodes we pay for.

The Bourne Ultimatum (August 3)-Wow, another series ender. Matt Damon should get a great summer with this and Ocean's Thirteen. His action stuff has gotten better over the years.

Rush Hour 3 (August 10)-Going to end my list with another sequel that is a guilty pleasure of sorts for me. I am a big Chan fan (especially of his older stuff), and this one again should do well. I've also read his diary online so I've read up on some fun stuff for this cation comedy to come. And he got Chris Rock's head on straight while working through controversy (the drunk episode lat a friend's concert ast year which he apologized for) and once again, injuries (both from the set of Rob B hood and this movie to his back-man this guy and Mick Foley sure have mocked Death enough times, or maybe it's Death Note?)

Again I just glazed over some of the movies of the summer so I look forward to reading on others' input and choices. Take care!

I'm certainly looking forward to the Transformers movie. Just to here Optimus Prime say,

"Freedom is the right of all sentient beings." LOL. Or,

"Transform and roll-out!"

I believe the CGI in the movie will be DY-NO-MITE.

You missed 300. I'm a history fan and an action fan so this movie is a big draw to me. Now I just need to find a girl willing to watch it with me and I've got myself a date. As for the multitude of series enders coming out I'm doubtful about most of them. The sequels weren't as good as the originals and I doubt these will be even as good as the sequels. I wouldn't mind being surprised by them though.

USA releases:

28 Weeks Later (sequel to '28 Days Later')
Pathfinder
The Bourne Ultimatum
Hot Fuzz

I have to see 'Resident Evil: Extinction'. Saw the first. Suffered through the second. After the third, will finally make peace with the fact I actually watched the RE trilogy.

I'm comforted by the fact none of them is as bad as that unbelievably bad film adaption, 'Alone in the Dark', though.
