Of course.

why bother climbing that?

simo is partially right. My use of the tower is mostly metaphorical. You cannot get to where the tower led via rocket. God did not smash the tower up though: he confused the languages (bastard) of all the builders (all the people on Earth) so that they could not understand each other and complete it (it was done save for the roof, according to legend). To me, the tower represents the pinnacle of human unity, solidarity and boldness, hence it is my metaphor.

i like the metaphor, a better picture for it tho is m.c eschers tower of babel me thinks.

Albeit that was not the main point of it, I still think the current image is the best. Eschers's tower is considerably more crude and less enticing, the focus is on the drama of it rather than the actual structure, and it presents a bird's eye view: meaning that my statement was about seeing the view was meaningless. The tower I used is more majestic and mysterious... but again, not the main point.

lolz you win
m.c eschers still good tho lol

and to your other post
do you think that if humans strengthened there communication they could achieve a perfect society? i was thinking about this the other day.

It is not only a matter of communication, although I do believe that an ideal society would have no boundaries (countries). For me, it is only obvious that I would not go to war to kill another person just because some trash orders me to, knowing that the other man is guilty only of following the same order from another heap of trash called a government. I believe that if people stopped caring only for themselves, and started thinking more about others, this understanding would come naturally. It simply makes no sense to impose cultural boundaries on evaluating the worth of human life. Also the population needs to start thinking for themselves. When people fail to understand injustice, or even understand but fail to act, preserving their own conflict, society will never improve. And governments right now are doing exactly that: allowing for the degradation of any intelligence and moral that remains in the world.

i very much agree with most of that except, i think humans are naturally selfish and can not change that unless they changed there instincts. i do think that the world would benifit from a united world goverment, simply because i dont think the population is ready for anarchy yet (i think we have alot more self improving to do), but eventualy we would be able to live in a society where every one only has authority over them selves and works in cooperation with each other.

That is assuming that humanity survives long enough.

I perfectly agree that humans are selfish, but I like to attribute most of it to stupidity and bad leadership (following bad leaders coming from stupidity). Naturally the leaders have to be eliminated and a better government set up in place, in order to begin that very reconstruction of morality through means of better education. After all, humans act as they have been taught, nearly 100% of the time. Who would quesiton injustice in a society that tolerates it? The most they do is comfort themselves with animals' right campaigns (perfectly safe) while pointedly ignoring the causes of conflict and suffering (unsafe to meddle in). Basically, my philosophy is this: humans can be better, or humans are incapable of being better. If the former is true, then something can be done, if the latter is true, it does not matter whether something is done or not, the end is the same: destruction. In any case action is not detrimental and potentially useful, so I simply assume that humans can change and that gives me imperative to exist.

very true, the banking system aswell as the goverment need to be taken out.
and i think there is alot wrong with society these days, but you dont see that many riots which is unfortunate.
as for humans being able to be better, i hope the former is true but get the feeling its the latter.
