i do all my own work, i've never had a mechanic touch a single one of my cars and i probably never will. every thing on my car is made by me and i don't do bolt-ons. The only thing on my car now, that i've bought and not made, is an act stage 2 cluctch.

No bolt-ons huh....btw what kind of things have you made...im kinda curious.

I've done mostly bolt-on stuff like e-fan conversion/radiator/alternator upgrades. Mostly stick with oil changes because I'm more of a "broke-chanic" than anything else. Image Got called that a lot by my parents and uncles when I tinkered w/stuff. I have yet to find something I cannot break!

Yeah I do everything on my FC and xB. The Merc goes to the dealership for work though. I do all the general work and I'll dabble in shit I've never done before from time to time just to keep it interesting.

From engine tuneups, oil change, brake repairs, cooling system, minor electricals like horns and foglights, wheel bearings, steering alignment, to suspension repairs I can do. All this through experience of owning my car, with a little help from my college textbooks.

But I can't do body and paint repairs.

I am a Mechanical Engineer and this is one of my major subjects. It also is one of my passions.

I wanted to do engine and transmission overhauls but due to the lack of tools I could not bring myself to dismantle and reassemble my engine and transmission.

I suck at electrical harnesses. Major weakness...

I am quite experienced with the stock downdraft carburetor of my Kia Pride/Mazda 121 and now I am studying EFI lately, mostly because of my recent engine swap from a 1.1L carb engine to a 1.5L EFI engine from a Mazda 323.

Well, its a very simple car... but its a start. With other cars I don't know if I can do all that I could with my current car.

Im too cheap a person to pay someone else to fix up my vehicle. If I can do it myself I'll do it... if not, then I'll learn... usually.
