budhists believe all desire leads to suffering and that only when one has extinguished there desire they can find true peace.
people desire things because its in there nature to want to live and reproduce, these instincts came about through natural selection eg the animals that evolved these drives, followed them and so tried to live and reproduce.
emotions are just the way the brain gets the conscious to do what it wants (which is to live and reproduce),
when you do something that draws on your basic instincts, you get rewarded with the feeling of happiness.
when you do something that negates you from your basic instincts, you get punished with negative emotions.
these emotions are actualy just chemicals that get released in your brain, its like holding a carrot in front of a donkey to get it to move in a certain direction.
this is the reason why it hurts when you fall over, get hit by a car or get dumped, its the same reason you want to have sex, not get hit by a car and want food.
people dont need to do anything, they just want to.

i dont think the budhists nirvana is attainable because humans naturaly desire and i believe it would be pretty impossible to change that.

opinions?

the desire to find inner peace is not a material desire.it's a spiritual one.

true, it is a positive desire but it's not like selfish material desires like money, pleasure or gambling which only multiplies and never leads to true happiness.

no, but I used to play Soldier of Fortune multiplayer and everyone else who played it(dutchies) had to add 'kut' & "kanker" to all their sentences.
