I dread if any of my science geek friends stumble upon this thread. One of them is even convinced that 1+1=0( He makes complex calculations and can launch into hours of explanation proving this point. I'll just say 'lol wut?')

Seriously,he took up an entire free period(teacher was absent) explaining why 1+1=0 and challenged me to answer him.
I just said "You have one apple,I give you another. How many fkin' apples do you have now?"
I was never good at science but he shut up

That's the danger of being too intelligent. Another friend was given a father's age and son's age question in a math quiz. Without taking 5 seconds he says
"There are 2 answers to this question."
The teacher is baffled. WTF two answers?
"In the first case the father's age is 35 and the son's age is 5. In the second case THE FATHER'S AGE IS 3 AND THE SON'S AGE IS -103!"
He then lectured all of us on why it is so and pointed out a hundred reasons nobody cared about. All the teacher said was
"It's true that there were 2 answers. Couldn't you just answer the more logical one?"

I'm glad my parents were not like theirs and let me follow any path i want instead of following the Indian system of ''Medical, Engineering or GTFO".

Back on topic: We're all made up of atoms. But so is everything else

living things are just material phenomena, same with conciousness.
a neuron cell is not conscious, but if you have enough of them they will be, if you get me.

No, in India, students have 2 choices.
Medical or Engineering.
I studied commerce in high school and plan to pursue a career in the arts.

matter/energy is what makes up everything that physically exists.

when you see a bike, you actualy see a load of metal in a certain shape, its your own subjective perception that makes it a bike but really its a load of metal and that metal is objectively matter/energy in a certain formation.

humans, like everything else, are formations of matter/energy eg we are a bunch of cells, those cells are made of molecules, those molecules are made of atoms, those atoms are made of subatomic particles and those subatomic particles are matter/energy.

everything that has and ever will happen in existence will be matter/energy moving about.

any questions?

The universe is one thing experiencing itself through a variety of different expressions and perspectives. That one thing is the fundamental building block of all things, and the variety of expressions are the different arrangements and sequences the fundamental material is arranged.

While it is a little disturbing, it is also quite interesting to understand that: If you were to be picked apart, one atom at a time by extremely fine tweezers, you'd end up with a pile of fine atomic dust. None of which were ever alive but all of which had once been you.
