PROLOGUE

The year is 1200

Our world has just begun yet we find ourselves in an endless war. We don't really know where we are all from, but the one thing we do know is that we know nothing. There are so many different kinds of beings here, and we know nothing about each other. We don’t want to know anything about ourselves except how best to kill each other. We have no history in this place, nothing to tell us of our origins or how to further develop our knowledge. It's like being left in the dark and every time you step into the light you see only a war torn world…

However our world is prosperous. With so many kind of beings it is necessary to categorize each into a general genre. There are four kinds; The Humans, a mortal race surviving by wits, the Voids, a nation of the undead and immortal, the Croniels, the wielders of Magic, both white and dark, and the Bestial, consisting of the orcs, minotaur’s and other half-beasts.

Trust is something no-one can afford. It is a kill or be killed world, where the only place you can possibly be safe is with your own kind. Our levels of intellect and skills all differ. The Croniels have no need of technology, the Void scorn medical aid, the Bestial rely on brute strength, while the Humans continue to invent new things each day. And theft, be it of intellect or skill, increases each day, as each race vies for an advantage and seeks to eliminate their disadvantages.

Slavery is something we see everyday, traitors seem to be doubling and the war sends us death before we have even begun. Here we fight for survival, we fight for food, we fight for technology, we fight for power, but what we fight for most of all is freedom.

In the beginning we questioned, "Why are we at war?" Each day we wondered, "When will this war end?" But now the only thought that dominates each creatures mind is, “Will I survive to see tomorrow?"

"Snow. Snow everywhere. I'm sick of the snow," mumbled a figure, walking against the wind in a blizzard. The figures head was bent down against the wind, fur blowing violently back, ears laid against its head. Mosu lifted her fox head up to see where she was going. Up ahead the blizzard looked to be dying down. She put all of her strength into moving forward and ran. She cleared the blizzard several hours later, to collapse panting in a snow covered forest. Mosu sneezed a few times and stood again to shake the snow from her fur. There was a puff of smoke, and she was in her humanoid form. She had a long walking stick with her, and she put it down to steady herself. The forest was quiet and peacefull. She stood still, enjoying the silence. She looked around, leaning on her stick. All of a sudden, there was a loud thumping noise, and snowladen branches lost their load. Mosu's foxy ears twitched, angling themselves toward the sound. pushing its way through the trees, was a ten foot tall tanuki, wearing a black tunic with flames on it. The tanuki looked rather angry, and bared it's teeth at Mosu. Mosu looked up at the creature boredly. "Exaclty what do you want?" she said calmly to the creature. The tanuki boomed at her, "Why are you in this forest? It belongs to me, and you are trespassing!" Mosu nodded slowly. "Am I? Well, I'm very sorry Mr. Racoon, I'll be on my way," and as she started to walk by him, whacked one of his knees with her walking stick. The tanuki yelped in surpirse and shrunk to a foot tall. Mosu bent over and picked him up by the back of his tunic. "You should leave peaceful beings alone, Mr. Big Scary Racoon," she said. The tanuki shook himself down. He bowed on the ground, "You have shrunk me, which no other creature has been brave enough to do. You are now my Master...um, I didnt catch your name?" the tanuki said. "I am Mosu," she said, "And I will call you Choko." Choko sighed and stood up to follow his new master, and friend.
*********
2 years later
Choko was the size of a small elephant, on all fours, with Mosu sitting on his back. She had her walking stick leaning on her shoulder, and a map in her hands. Trailing behind Choko was a blue furred Reindeer, appropriately named Blue. He was Mosu's battle steed when she could not transform to her fox mode. "Choko I do beleive we are lost," Mosu said, turning the map upside down. "Master I told you we shouldn't have turned a mile back. I did tell you it was straight, and the map says so," he said with a yawn. "Hmm, you are correct. I'll just listen to you as to where we're going," Mosu said, and put the map in front of Chokos eyes. Choko lowered himself and Mosu jumped off before he transformed to 3 feet tall. "I don't even know where we're going, or why we're going." he said, examining the map. "We're going to Bearhaven, we need a rest stop in a town. And I need to steal something or I'll go crazy." she said. Choko sighed, "Mster, Bearhaven is a mile back and then 7 miles east. I think we should get Blue to run us there; I cant go fast." "Right you are buddy," Mosu said, picking up Choko and making him turn to a foot tall. She sat him on her shoulders and mounted Blue. They were on their way to Bearhaven.

He caught one of the white petals and stared numbly at it. "Lilith," he said, softly. A black butterfly fluttered its wings gracefully, making a semi-circle beside his left ear. "How beautiful. It's the same flower isn't it?" he stared at the petal laying in his palm. His black hair rustled softly as he looked up and set his pair of black sapphire eyes upon the tree which bore the white flowers. "How beautiful," he repeated, again softly, so softly it left no echoes in the cave. He turned his head around when he heard the neighing of his horse, Ribut. His mouth agape, he slapped his forehead. "Why, you...Ribut! Stop eating the flowers!!" he cried panicly and ran towards the stallion, stepping on the natural stones in the underground stream. "Stop it, Ribut! It's Mother's favourite flower! You just ate, didn't you?!" he cried when he reached Ribut which was grazing casually on the flowers. The stallion looked at him and spat out the crushed flower petals on his face. Reza stood there, perplexed. Wiping the wet, sticky ex-food of Ribut with his left hand, he swallowed in his anger. "Shut up, you idiotic butterfly!" he yelled, spontaneously turning his head towards Lilith, the black butterfly. "What do you mean, you didn't say anything? You were laughing at me, weren't you?"asked Reza, clenching his fist. "Stop denying it, Lilith. I would surely kill you if it's not because of Mother, you mocking flying...thing..you...,"he stuttered. "Whatever." he muttered after a moment of thinking about the most appropriate cursing. He was never good at cursing anyway.

A few minutes later, Reza were done taking his bath although the only sticky body part of his was his face. All dressed up, he went up to the biggest rock in that part of the cave and sat down, staring up at the big flowering tree. The wind blowing from above the ground seemed to manage to get in from an opening somewhere and more petals were blown down from the tree. He caught up a few petals with his hand. Looking fondly at the petals, he opened a silver pendant around his neck. It had been his most treasured items for ages. Inside, a lock of black, silky hair can be seen. This young man put the petals inside the pendant and stared at it. "Mother will be very happy," he said quietly.

I'm sure you're not supposed to post anything here aside than the story, but i can't help it. This intro sucks! I'm disturbed by something at this moment and i'm rushing..gomene, everyone. I'll continue later..

Whip lash after whip lash, a yound girl is tied to a post being tortured. Flash to the present and a now grown woman whispers in her sleep "where am i and why is this happening?" Before long she starts mumbling recognition fo her ebing trapped in a dream "i know the only place i can be this weak is in my nightmares where i can no longer refuse emotions, i can no longer bury my memories i need to snap out of this." Flash back, the girl is undergoing another lashing, "o well i deserve it, i am only scum" the girl whispers between gritted teeth. Flash back to the present "why are dreams the only place i can be haunted, the only place anything can affect me?" The woman suddenly rose from her sleep with sweet pouring out of her body. A large tiger comes to sit beside the woman who is now in a siting upright position on a raised rock within a cave. The woman speak to the tiger "i was about to die...but unfortunately i was not going to stay dead. Humans are always finding ways to bring you back from the dead, and i just so happen to have the honour of being the test subject. They load you full of holes so that you can bleed out but you sit there and take it as it's your duty and then next thing you know you enter darkness where it is peaceful and then they rip you from that peace put a stich in your gashing wound and you're straight back to work."
The tiger rubbed it's soft fur against the womans skin. All emotion is removed suddenly from the womans face, she rises and stares back into the cave as if awaiting something she knew was coming.
*************************************************
Echoes come through the caves and prominent females voice says "Alexandria tell me of you, tell me how you came to be this way."
As if knowing the voice immediately the woman moves to the front of the cave and sits next to the tiger that is facing a beautiful flat with various blooming trees and is encolsed with forest. The woman starts "Don't judge me for what i say Saphere." Afer a prolonged breathe she starts again "I live my life without emotion for emotion ruins my thoughts. If i think of the past i will suffer and if i suffer then my purpose in life is no longer there. My only purpose is to kill, to do as the military wishes of me. In a way i am a slave by my own will. I know no other life. The only family i have ever had is brutality and pain, pain that lets you know you are alive!"
"The war has been going on ever since i can remember even though remembering is the last thing i actually want to do. I have been a soldier since birth. The military decided to play with children within their mothers whom and genetically change them in some way yet everyone of us turned out differently if we turned out at all. The military believed raising children into soldiers at a young age made us the ultimate weapon and in a way they were right. No pain too great for us to suffer, we could survive in the harshest of conditions and live when most others would die."
"I am a brutal killing machine and people wonder how i can be so cold... If not for you my tiger friend Saphere, i would not have any emotion. I remember meeting you at the age of seventeen, i had just slaughtered a village and was badly wounded but it didn't fase me in the slightest as it was my job, something i had done since i was able to walk. You were so mystical, there has always been something about you that i have not understood but you reached to me on a level i didn't know existed. At first i just thought you were an inquisitive tiger but as you spoke to me within my mind i knew there was alot more to you but you have never revealed anything else to me. We live spereate lives and unite whenever we are not doing our own jobs. I don't actually know what job you have but being a tiger i just assume you are hunting like me."
"And just to point out the obvious I now live with you, Saphere in a cave that is out behind the military base. The cave section we live in is joined to a tunnel of different caves leading all over the island where it is said the enemy lives. If not for the convenience of me protecting the military base i wouldn't have been allowed to stay outside the base but you don't often argue with a killing machine. Anything else you wish to know?"
The tiger faces Alexandria and the echoing voice is once again heard "Why do you hide your past from me? What is in your past that is so bad that you can't tell me?"
Alexandria stands and speaks as if she never heard the voice "It's good weather today, look the river is flowing beautifully." She points to the flats where a river surrounds its egdes between the flats and the forest. Her finger moves to the right where following the hill of the cave there are a set of rapids. "Shall we go get ourselves breakfast before i head to training?"

"There are explainable things and there are the inexplicable things. In the same way there are explicable beings while others are inexplainable. I am an inexplicable existence. Where am I? Who am I? What am I? I do not know..." the little girl continued her monologue to her audience; a gigantic silver tiger sitting at her feet, staring attentively at her. "...I murdered my friends and ran away, and have never stopped running for a year. I've shed tears, starved and bled, yet I don't feel I have atoned for my sins..." A single tear glided down her face and the tiger sat up and licked it away. The little girl laughed as the rough feel of the tigers tongue coated her face in sticky saliva. She threw her hands around its neck and hugged it tight. "You are always with me. Don't ever leave me." The little girl stared at the cat with pleading eyes and it licked her face again. She laughed, then hugged herself and shivered in the freezing breeze. Dressed in a black cloak, a dress of leaves and hide and reed sandals, the little girl was poorly prepared for the winter season. Minutes passed as she stared blankly past the tiger into the clear blue sky..."Purpose..." the words escaped her mouth of their own will. "Does my life have purpose?" she continued to stare blankly into the cold winter sky, indifferently watching another day pass...

Footsteps echoed in the large unfurnished room. The Captains followed by their soldiers marched in a single file to the vehicles waiting to escort them.
Tanya Abdol hitched her bag more securely up her shoulder and took a deep breath. It wasn't a difficult mission, they had to capture some rouge dwarfs that were terrorising a village southeast, but she was anxious nevertheless. As the Captains issued last minute orders, she rubbed her hands nervously together. Just then somebody patted her head.
Looking up she saw Rick Welsh. "Argh It's you." Tanya said making a mock face. Laughing he ruffled her hair, "Still get the jitters?" He asked, his eyes twinkling.
"Hah! Let me remind you it was me who used to wipe your eyes after the training courses." Tanya shot back smoothing down her hair. The two looked at each other and burst out laughing. The Captains looked to see what the commotion was when they saw Rick, "Senior Captain?!" Captain Airek said, striding forward. "What are you doing here?"
"I thought I'd accompany you to the Battle ground." Rick said smiling..
"Sir you don't need to concern yourself with such a lowly operation." Captain Airek said and then caught sight of Tanya standing behind Welsh. "Stop standing idly around Abdol.Hurry up and get in the vehicles."
"Uh, yes sir." Tanya said and hurried forward.
Rick saw her go. "Captain Airek, you know that I hate paperwork. And they have a ton waiting for me right now. Let me accompany you. I wont get in your way."
"That's not the problem." Airek looked at the young commander and sighed. "Ofcourse you can accompany us."
Rick grinned and followed the Captain to the vehicles.

Rain poured heavily across the thick forest of Gruntrum, flooding, enritching, glimering the entire forest in bright arays of exotic light as the moon forced it's white gleam into the deep reflections of every drop. Leaves bent and wiggled as wind occationally picked up speed and quickly calms down, the treatcherous forest loomed with every unpredictability. The sky was orange, the clouds gray, while a thin layer of fog engulfed every direction a normal eye would see. Slowly, the young human girl, with all the strength she could muster, dragged Cloufrin on her back. his head slouched on her right shoulder, chin almost penetrating her collarbone, while his left arm hung like a huge curl where both her arms grasped it tightly. the rest of his body limped behind her small stature, though he was a small creature she was even smaller. The loud noice which was the forest, along with the cold drops of water caused a slight shock through Cloufrin's half unconscious body as she pulled him out of a well roomed cave. "Where are we going..." he gasped for breath trying to mutter those few words. "We need to get you to a town, to a doctor. I've been traveling with you on my back for over three weeks, and you've yet to heal your internal organs." replied the young girl. "How... do you... know so much..?" he coughed out some blood. "My father was a doctor." she took a large step and hauled both of them over a first flight of rocky steps. Cloufrin noticed the great strain she had to endure with every step, leaving his mind to wander with numerous questions. "Why..." he coughed one again. "Why what?" she replied with a large smile. "Help.. Me..." he tried to whisper, hacking up small pieces, bulk of blood instead. "Because you need help." she kept her eyes straight, taking the final push up, reaching the very top of the trail, to find their eyes gazing at a large array of buildings.

The great forticated walls extended wide across the plains in an octagonal barracade, keeping the smaller buildings protected from most attacks and natural disasters. Two tall towers extend at the very center, while a well built castle made from bricks of old stood at the very back of the city, where a tall cliff towered over it like a large roof. White was the color that filled every corner of the city, white was the bricks, the wood, the water, and those that resided within. Though everything is white, the skin of all residents were dark, so dark that even their shadow could not comprehend.

"Hoglexia, the city of Glimmering Shadows" said the girl "a bit too extravagant for my taste." she continued as she began her great descent. "I hope they got a good doctor..." she sighed.

Tanya settled down and turned her head to look at Rick who was following Captain Airek to the head vehicle.A little while later the vehicles began moving. The base was surrounded by nothingness and streched for miles. Tanya stared out the window. Behind her the rest of the soldiers were laughing and joking around. As they were exiting the base her eyes moved to a large cage that was halway concealed by the large door that was the enterance to the Base. She craned her neck but couldnt see anything.
"What is it for anyways?" She wondered. Suddenly she found herself looking at the coldest most inhuman eyes she had ever seen. They glittered like emeralds before moving out of her line of sight. "Wha-?" She exhaled, surprised to find she had been holding her breath. "What was that?" She wondered to herself again and again, her heart thudding furiously away.

The vehicles turned and headed for their designated course. The soldiers prepared, ready for battle. "What come, may come, Muster any strength you can against them." Etched in their hearts. The soldiers finally left for the battle field.

"Another Day" The little girl looked lost into the clear blue sky. Her footsteps went unheard in the silent forest. In her arms she carried a white cat. Together they had been wondering without any direction or purpose, never encoutering a soul in the gigantic forest. The little girl stopped abruptly underneath an old oak tree. The cat suddenly jumped from her arms and transformed into a fearsome looking tiger. "Cat, what is it?" An eerie air had suddenly engulfed them. A odd feeling that something was happening all around them. But there was not a whisper to be heard or a figure to be seen. "I don't like this Cat," the little girl whimpered as shivers racked her lithe frame. Suddenly the ground beneath the two gave way, and all that was heard was the muffled suprised gasp of a child.

Choko had moved to settle into Blues antlers, using them as a bed. Mosu was urging Blue on faster and looked at the map. "Choko. Choko wake up. We're lost again," she said, and tweaked the tanuki's ear. Choko sat up and yawned. He snatched the map from Mosu's hands. "We are lost.. you were-" he started to say and Mosu cut him off. Her ears were rotating and twitching. "I hear something, shut up. It sounds like thunder.. but steady thunder.. and I can't smell any rain or see any lightning," she said. Choko thought for a moment. "You're hearing vehicles. They're huge, shiny things that can go ten times faster than Blue. They belong to the humans," Choko said. Mosu snarled viciously. "Humans? Like the ones that drove my poor old father out of town because he was a demon? A demon that never did anything to nobody? We're following them, and I'm going to kill every last single one of them," Mosu said, and turned Blue in the direction to follow the vehicles.

The Vehicles stopped at a site 4 kilometers from the designated area.
Rick got out of the vechicle. He winked at Tanya who hurried past him towards Captain Airek. She stuck her tongue out before disappearing amidst the soldiers.
He walked over to where the Captains were assembling their troops
Captain Teyra, thirty seven years old and attractive smiled thinly at Rick.
Captain Slowak, fifty four years old with a stern face, merely grunted.
Slowly the teams were formed, instructions given and teams departed.

Despite being young most troops handled themselves with confidence. Or perhalps because they were young that they were confident. Rick watched them go, they were in capable hands. He wondered if they still had coffee left.
Suddenly he felt the hair at the back of his neck stand. His eyes narrowing, he drew out his gun. Rotating, he scanned the area but saw nothing out of the ordinary. But he had learned long ago to rely on his instincts more than anything. And right now they screamed danger.

The landing was bad. The little girl's head made a sickening sound as it crushed into the sticks and leaves pilled on the floor of the pit. For moments she could only see stars. A huge figure lingered over her, its radiant blue eyes showed concern. "Cat" The little girl whispered. Suddenly giggles filled the tiny cavern. Blinded and paralyzed by the force of her fall, the little girl could do nothing but shudder in fear. Quickly she closed her eyes and lay still, hoping whatever lurking creature might mistake her for dead.
"Ah, a girl your age should still be nimble," the twinkling laugh rang in her ears, immersed in a rapid flapping sound. The little girl opened her eyes to see more stars drifting about her. Suddenly she sat up eyes wide as she finally understood what she was seeing. But pain engulfed her as her bruised body protested her sudden movement and she clutched herself as the world spun.
"tsk, tsk, you should sit still now" the childish yet scolding voice caused her to look up once more. Drifting all around her were tiny beautiful winged creautures. With torso's similar to that of an elf, the little creatures zoomed lazily around her, sparkling in the trickle of sunlight from above.
"T...The hole... why...?" The little girl forced out the words and the fairies all looked up to her entrance point, then back at her.
"Well any other creature would have been driven away by the power spells surrounding that entryway. You must be one amazing creature. Would you not do us the honors and revert to your true form. So we can properly welcome you?" the same fairy asked
"T-true form?" The little girl looked confused, "This... is my form" she said frankly. The silence that followed was intense and the little girl wondered if she had done something wrong. The fairies backed away slowly from the little girl and whispers rapidly began to spread.
"Are you... human?" The question hang in the air and in the dead silence and the dangerous look in the eyes of the fairies, the answer seemed the difference between life and death.

Mosu pulled Blue to a stop. "Choko, tell Blue to stay here. Tell him if he sees any humans to run like hell and hide," she said. The tanuki nodded and said something unintelligible to Mosus ears to Blue. Blue snorted and stood stock still. Mosu slid off Blues back and changed to her fox form. "Get tiny and go around the opposite side I go. When I signal, you go big. As big as you can get, even if no ones there. We want to scare these military men away from here. Far away. Go!" Mosu said."Yes Master," said Choko, and he was an inch tall an instant later. He disapered from Mosus sight. She lifted her nose to the air and caught a wiff of human closer than the huge reek of the larger group. She followed it and could see a man with his gun pulled. Her ears started twitching madly as a reflex from the sight of the gun and her tail bushed up. She stood still and waited.

A woman all in leather ran through the forest hitting targets with arrows, knives and dodging traps of all kinds. Arrows flew threw the air towards her and her swift movements made it seem like she was dancing. Large men came from all directions and started attacking her, and she just continued to move clean and swift, making their movements look almost predictable. After only a few moments she has ran the course, beat everything on the course and satnds the barely puffed. The men on the ground struggle to stand up as their male commander strides towards the woman. The woman thinking nothing of this powerful mans presence says "You really need to make that course harder. I'm growing bored of such simple tasks. And these men, where do you get them? I wouldn't want them on my battlefield if they are to fall so easily!"
The man stops right before her trying to make his presence more threatening as he says "Watch your tongue in my presence. I can only do so much with the resources i am given and these men happen to be well renowned fighters, you should be greatful."
The woman having no fear, still not feeling threatened by his presence laughs in his face, "huh, well they might be renowned against weak races but i garauntee you they would not last long in half the battles i fight. Which reminds me where am i off to next? I was detouring to here this morning and i noticed there were a few cars of soldiers going out. Where were they headed? Normally you would ask me to follow such troops just to make sure they suceeded, you know i work from the darkness very well from past campaigns. You have such talented men that they don't even notice i'm there."
He steps to stand beside her and places his hand on the small of her back and he motions her forward "Alexandria, what i have install for you is something much more fitting for someone like you, and today i'm going to be your escort."
Alexandria replied "My escort? Why am i having an escort at all. Normally i just get whatever form of trnasport you want to give me and off i go. Something is going on. Tell me or should i have to refuse this?"
He moved his other hand to her arm and tightened his grip "You are not permitted to refuse me. You will be accompanying me to the battle zone that you saw those troops heading to but you will not be involved in their battle. A few kilometres from where they are going to be there is a base of rebels setting up camp. The troops are headed to take out some rough dwarfs terrorising the village. I'm going to play the superior commander whilst you go play my assassin. Is that ok with you or should i remind you who i am?"
Alexandria loosened his grip and placed her arm aound his waist as if they were lovers as she jokingly said "My darling you always spoil me so. Do you want an captives? I normally don't give survives a chance but if you need some information i'd be happy to bring one back to your car if you say allow me some new weaponry of my choice...."
The man with the very demanding presence finally relaxed as he allowed himself to laugh. The men around him remained nervous as his female companion stayed as calm as she had began. They climed into his car and with their escorts they headed towards the troops.
