Rick scanned the area, looking for something out of the ordinary, but he saw nothing.
Suddenly he heard a rustle of leaves on his left and he tensed. Raising the gun,he called out strongly "Come out.I can see you." Hoping his bluff would work, he kept his gun pointed at the supposed target. Suddenly he saw a fox, half hidden behind the trees.
"Its a fox." Rick murmured. But he didn't relax. The Fox looked back at him, its eyes gazing at him fearlessly. Its tail up and ready for attack.
"You're a brave one aren't you." Rick said to the fox keeping the gun pointed at it's head. He scanned the area wondering if anyone was using the animal as a decoy. The forest was still. Rick looked back at the fox, picking up a pebble he threw it forcefully near to where the fox was standing, it didn't move an inch. 'Strange. It's not afraid of me at all.It might be because it has never come across humans. Still something about it doesn't seem quite right' Taking a deep breath, he tightnened his finger on the trigger. "Forgive me if I'm mistaken. But I cannot take any chances." And with that he fired the gun.

Mosu stared back at the man as he talked. She saw his gun and was worried, but kept her demeanor. The human would be taught a lesson, but only when he turned away. Then the man pointed his gun at her. She kept staring, thinking He wouldn't do it, he just thinks I'm some dumb animal. He thinks I'll run away. Then he pulled the trigger. Mosu moved with lightining quickness but not fast enough. The bullet pierced deep into her left flank. She yelped and started rolling madly on the ground. Her fur was getting matted and dirty with blood and soil. "Choko! NOW!" she tried to yell, but it came out as more of a strangled yelp. Mosu had never actually been injured by anything before; she was usually able to asess the strength and boldness of the opponent and use her speed and skill with her walking-stick-made-bo-staff to defeat them. She was probably going to be stuck in her fox form for awhile now, unless the humans knew how to make half demons change back to their humanoid form. She didn't know if he would kill her or take her for experimentation, as half demons were rare. Mosu had no idea where Choko was, and the pain in her flank was keeping her from moving. The bone was shattered.

A few kilometres out of town the convey of cars stopped where the remaining cars from the other troops blocked the route. The man with his demanding presence got out of his car, came around to the other side and opened the door for his female companion. Alexandria accepted the hand of the man that she both hated and loved the most as she climbed out of his car. The men escorting them kneeled before her, offering her the weapons that she had become so familiar with. Without a word she loaded herself with her weaponry and headed for the location she was given. Just as she was nearly out of sight the man yelled to her "Yes, bring me a captive and i will grant you new weaponry." Without hesitation she continued as if she hadn't heard anything.

Choko wandered the forest, completely lost. It had been awhile since he and Mosu separated, and he had heard no signal of any kind. He decided to go back to Blue to see how he was holding up. Just in case, the Tanuki grew to the size of a normal human and pulled out his dagger. He walked bent over, trying to cause the least amount of noise as possible. "Master is probably just sleeping in a tree somewhere, theres nothing to worry about," he thought to himself.

He said nothing while lying there, staring at the crescent moon. From up there, on the peak of the hill where his cave of stay was hidden so deliberately from between the rocks, the night wind was heard howling, trying to pass through the cave’s opening. He closed his eyes; breathing in the wind, feeling it caressing him like a maiden’s passionate touch. Somehow, he can feel the heat of the moonlight. A black butterfly fluttered gracefully from nowhere and landed on the rocky ground not very far from his lying spot. Reza opened his eyelids and gazed at the black cat. Lilith. One of the black butterfly’s amazing abilities is shape-shifting. The feline gazed back at him, eyeing his handsome feature with its green emerald eyes. “What’s this? Another lecturing session?” Reza asked. Lilith continued to stare. He was the splitting image of his beautiful mother. The Lady of The Blue Moon Palace. The supposedly second Queen, of no recognition. A gentle lady, a loving mother, one who was too kind to have anger darkening her soul. Her beloved mistress. She has to speak, even if she would be hated for it.

“Milord, this is not the time to be a romantic. We have to leave,” said Lilith. Reza said nothing. “It has been two months since we arrived here. You know how dangerous it is for us to stay at one place for too long a time, don’t you? We should have leave weeks ago. You are giving them the opportunity to trace us,” she said, firmly. Instead of answering, Reza sat upright and looked back at the pale shape of the hanging crescent in the black sky. “There would be another five torturing months for us before you reached your twenty first birthday, Milord. We must leave tonight. We can’t afford any procrastination. Are you listening to me?” Lilith asked hotly as she caught the dim light in his black eyes. She knew it perfectly that Reza was in the world of his own. Those light prove it to her. Reza looked at her. “Do carry on,” he said, coolly as if her speech was nothing of importance. “Milord…,” she said, between gritted teeth. “Do you have any idea how irresponsible you are being? The assassins will be here at any moment! Maybe they are already here! I have been following your wish since the past two months! The flowers are certainly not the best reason to stay! Stop being such an idiotic sentimental!!” Lilith said furiously. Those words seemed to finally get to him. “Idiotic? Is remembering Mother idiotic? How dare you, Lilith…,” Reza rose from his sitting position. His eyes icy black, his fist a threatening claw, Lilith felt a cold shiver running down her spine. “Mind your words, Lilith. I might accidentally kill you tonight. You’re her most loyal servant, that is the only thread you’re holding on to, remember that. You spoke like I am a most unworthy insect who couldn’t take care of himself. True, I have not developed my power fully. But I am certainly not an insect. Get out from my sight,” he snarled. It is amazing to see how beautiful he can still look in his fury.

Lilith backed up a little and was planning to leave when suddenly five forms of shadow appeared. She opened up her mouth to warn Reza, and found it unnecessary. Reza was right when he said he is no insect. His attacker was quick as lightning, but he was quicker. In split seconds, two out of five of the shadowy figures vanished from sight, as their body ceased into mere shattering of ashes. “What a pain,” Reza muttered, licking their blood off his delicate fingers. His eyes are no longer sapphire black. They are glowing red.

***

Yes, Reza is no insect. And he is no human either. His father, Count Vlad Dracul is the ruler of Kingdom of Merah, a powerful kingdom inhabited by…vampires, the undead blood-sucking creatures feared by any bloody beeings. While his mother, Lady Jamilah is a human. Reza’s half-blooded truth had proven to be nothing but a curse upon his destiny and his life. Dhampirs. The fruit bore by marriages between two creatures that are not supposed to even form alliances. Dhampir. Reza. He is pronounced ‘guilty’ on his first taste of air outside of his mother’s womb. Since Count Dracul were told of The Prophecy, dhampirs which were already oppressed, were forced to live a living hell. They are of the lowest rank, filthier than any being exists in this war-torn world. They are killed mercilessly, with no place to seek hope or happiness. But they continued to persevere, enduring the cruelty of Life’s wheel, for they know the one reason of what were put upon them. For they know the naked truth. They are despised and loathed because they are FEARED. Feared by the human for their vampiric side (they still drink blood and have many amazing vampire abilities) and their non-human physique, and feared by the vampires themselves for the fact that dhampirs are natural vampire slayer. The one Reason of why no dhampirs have ever been allowed to live until the age of 21. Of course, to let them reach that particular age is completely moronic! Why should you let a thorny bush grow when you can actually destroy it while it is still a shoot? For centuries, the dhampirs have live through all the suffering, bearing the hatred from both human and vampires. Until they heard of The Prophecy. At last, their saviour, the perfect dhampir will come and rescue them. The Lord of Dhampirs. Not one happy news for the vampires, of course. Not even for Count Dracul. Which was why he put his beautiful, new-born baby boy under detain far in the underground in spite of his love for the boy’s mother. His sweet, gentle Jamilah.

He glided swiftly among his enemy’s attack. One of the three remaining assassins was already killed by him just as they attacked him again. Another one was lured to his death by Lilith, who had already transformed into her butterfly form using her other special ability; hypnotism. The poor vampire sliced of his own neck under Lilith’s influence. But this blond was quite stubborn. Never mind. He was enjoying every minute of their fight…

The assassin was panicked when Reza went out of his sight. ‘They never tell me about his amazing speed! He’s just half vampire, how the hell did he manage to outrun us?!!’ he thought to himself. He looked around him, scanning for Reza’s whereabouts. Then, pain soared up his left shoulder. He stared aghast as his red glowing eyes caught the object on the ground. His own left hand. Blood came gushing out from his ripped off shoulder. He screamed in agony. “Was that too much too bear, vampire?” asked Reza, sitting casually on one of the rock on the hill. “Y…you monster!!” the blond man screamed. Reza laughed. “Why, aren’t you one too? Hmm? Vampire.” His cruel smile was too unbearable for his foe. Screaming, he charged at his target. Once, twice, Reza managed to avoid his attack. The third attack….

The blond man vanished. His remaining ashes on the ground were soon blown away by the night breeze. Reza stood still. Then slowly, he raised his hand up and wiped out the blood on the corner of his mouth. A soft chuckle escaped his breath. “I guess I did go too far,” he said, grinning before he collapsed on the ground.

***

She wondered why young men are so stubborn. His wound looked very bad indeed and she was being killed by her worries for him. His pale face terrified her. It had been three days since he was attacked on the peak of the hill, gaining those deep wound. He was feverish and weak. “I need blood, Lilith. Find me some fresh blood,” he had said to her the night before. She did not cherish his weak gaze nor his unsteady whispers. Reza needed blood. Fresh blood. He needed it to heal. But where and how would she get it for him? This cave was so far away from the nearest city. Can anybody guarantee he will be alright if she leave him here? What if The House of Principals send out another bunch of assassins? Reza would not stand a chance on them. Not in his condition now.

Ribut’s gentle neighing took her away from her thinking. Reza had woken up. “Lilith,” he called weakly from among the stalagmites not far from the underground stream. The black butterfly flew across the blossoming trees and landed on Ribut’s head. “You have to go, Lilith. I need blood. I can’t hold on any longer!” he said. Lilith stared at his trembling body. His right hand was clutching at his rib where the wound was inflicted, his eyes glowing red. He was already gasping to breathe. She spread her wings again and fly to the south, looking for the obscured saviour.

Tap, taptap. Tap, taptap. Tap, taptap. The woman's long, red nail hit the table in a rhythmic pattern. Her other hand cradled a thick cigar, which she brought to her plump lips and sucked on every few moments. Her eyebrows were raised as she listened to the news that was being conveyed to her through a very drunk Croniel, her dark, heavily-lidded eyes watching his every move. "And then he came at me best mate. It was horrible. Horrible! Gone in an instant, 'ee was. I'll miss him, the bloody brute," the man was saying. Effie stood and slammed her hand down on the table, her long black sleeve falling down over her wrist. His yellow eyes followed her movement. "Were're you goin'?" She looked down at him, completely uninterested in him. She had been hoping that he had something important to say; something that would give her the location of the man she was supposed to be taking down, but he was no help.

"Anywhere but here," she sighed, dropping the cigar and putting it out with her thick, black boots. She was tall, with a long, black traveling cloak wrapped around her shoulders and hoop earrings. She tugged at a strand of her hair in agitation--a habit she had--then walked briskly out of the pub into the snow. Disliking the snow--as she always had--Effie stepped back towards the pub, then away again, deciding between snow and the drunken man. Finally, she chose the snow and walked down the street with he gloved hands in her pockets.

In front of her lay the exit of the town she was in, and past it a forest with it's green pines towering snow-covered above her. She looked back at the town one last time before entering the forest with no intention other then to move to the other side. Her thoughts, on a hotel or at least some kind of cover for the night, were interrupted by a gunshot and the yelp of an animal. Having a gun fetish, she set out in search of the gun holder, and found him, staring at a wounded fox. This was interesting in Effie's mind, for she had generally thought of foxes as things not in need of shooting. "Good job," she called, coming out of the trees behind him with her hands still in her pockets and her eyes focused on him. "I think you might've taken the poor thing out. Because foxes are definatly in need of taking out. Big, bushy tails and all. Very suspicious species."

A new creature had arrived on the scene. Mosu stared at the woman with a cigar in her mouth, puffing away. She heard the words "Suspicious Species" in her dazed cloud of a mind. "Suspicious?" she yelled. "I'm the suspicious one? Look at that human! He shot me for no damned reason, and I'M the suspicious one? And what about my bushy tail? If my leg wasn't broken I'd come over there and claw your eyes out, you stupid silly creature!" Mosu snarled.

Effie tucked the cigar between her teeth so she could hold her hands up. "Hold it, hold it. I didn't mean anything by that," she said, the idea of getting her eyes clawed out not exactly appealing to her. Putting her hands down, she thrust them in her pockets and cocked her head. "Sarcasm can be a virtue, you know... Or not. Either way, it's fun. I use it quite often. The whole bushy tail thing was an example of sarcasm. Right? Great." She took the cigar from her mouth and grinned.

"Pff. Sarcasm? You creatures are soo..odd," Mosu said, propping herself up on her good leg. "I don't like your character right now, and I've only talked to you for about thirty seconds. Your smokey thing reeks as well." She instantly disliked the person, and wondered what the human thought of this.

The gun was pointed at the woman even before she fully appeared in view.
"Good job," she called, Rick looked at her unblinking, she continued. "I think you might've taken the poor thing out. Because foxes are definatly in need of taking out. Big, bushy tails and all. Very suspicious species."
Judging from her appearance she looked a wanderer, "Who-" he was surprised to see the fox yelp and the woman respond to it.
His eyes widened. The woman could talk to the fox?! He inched closer and heard the fox glowering. The woman held up her hands. He observed them and concluded that they had no prior alliance, "Move away from the creature." He ordered, Pointing the gun between their heads so that it would be easy to shoot either of them. "Do as I say or I'll shoot." He looked at them, his voice low and his eyes a steely greyish green. "And believe me, I never miss"

The heard the distant gunshot just as they exited the forest. "Rick's gun." Tanya thought, a lump rising in her throat.
"Senior Captain?" Captain Slowak said sounding bitter, just as he had known the kid was good for nothing, and nothing good ever came out of making kids do adults work. Now he was going away firing at God knew what. Thiking about it the Captain grunted in displeasure and spat at the ground.
The whole platoon had halted. Captain Airek was looking back at the direction that they had come from, his face twitching.
"Captain Airek." Captain Teyra said softly, "We can't divert from protocol. The senior Captain can take care of himself. We must proceed to the village."
The seasoned Captain looked back at her and sighed. "Yes. Move on troops." And with that the Platoon moved forward. Tanya slowed down her pace till she was at the end of the line and then as the troops trudged forward, she quietly broke away from them and made a run back for the forest. She would have hell to pay later especially if Rick was just firing away to kill time. The jerk had never really cared about the consequences of his actions. Ducking her head to avoid the branches, she lived up to the nickname "the bullet" given to her at the academy and zoomed to where they had left Rick.
* * *
She knelt down to catch her breath, she didnt know how long she had been running but she was nowhere nearer to Rick than when she had started. Grumbling she prepared to move again when she heard something. Diving behind a bush she pulled out her gun.
Into the clearing stepped a racoon. "Sheesh." She thought, relieved. "You scared me you ugly lil-"
Just then before her eyes the racoon transformed into human size and pulled out a dagger before moving away.
"WHA-WHAT?" Tanya stayed in the bush, despite having read alot about magical creatures this was her first time seeing one in real life. "It actually grew to the size of a man..." She thought shocked, then shaking her head to clear her head she tightened her hold on her gun, "Perhalps this was what had attacked Rick." But she doubted that anything would escape Rick looking completely unscathed. Taking a deep breath and as quietly as she could, Tanya began tailing the beast.

(Choko did not transform into a man, he transformed to the size of a man.)
Choko heard rustling in the bushes behind him. He mounted Blue as he heard someone say, "Wha-WHAT?". "Great, we've been spotted," he said to Blue. "Move up over there and rear up. Act intimidating," he whispered into the reindeers ear. The big blue hulk started moving forward, and caught sight of a human holding a gun. He reared up and made a sound between a raor and a snort. "YAH! Who be you to be wandering around here in a peaceful forest with a weapon of war?" Choko asked, speaking english.
*******************
Mosu looked back at the man who now spoke. "Move away from the creature," he said. Mosu stared at him. He wanted the new person to move away? To finish the kill? She heard him speak, "Do as I say or I'll shoot. And believe me, I never miss." Mosu laughed at that remark. "You never miss, you say?" she said in human. "Well, it seemed you missed my head you great bufoon! You humans, so full of yourselves and your skills, even when a fault is right in front of you. You disgust me," she said with a snarl.

Effie glanced over at the man with the gun in his hand. She liked him instantly; mostly because he was holding a gun, and she had an insufferable gun fetish. She grinned at him, with her hands in the air showing that she had no weapons, and she wasn't trying to hurt him. Stepping back away from the fox as he said, she tucked her hands back in her pockets again. "No need to do any shooting. I quite like my head where it is. Anyways, I'm not on the fox's side. On yours, either, but that doesn't mean I'm aiming to kill you, so put that thing down, would you?" she said, inclining her head at the gun, then sucking on her cigar once more. She let a puff of gray smoke free from her lips, then frowned at it. "I've never been able to do smoke rings. I've heard it's easier with a pipe for some reason."

As the creature talked of smoke rings and shooting, Mosu was trying to transform to her humanoid form. It wasn't working, and she couldn't stand the cigar smoke anymore. But, she didn't want the gun to go off either. The loud noise was not one of her favorite things, and getting shot again didn't seem apealing. She looked at the woman. "Stow that smoke stick before get over there and separate your leg from your foot!" she snarled, just speaking in English.
