Would you consider a deer a furry? I got in a pretty pointless argument with this girl who said she was a furry. I asked her what kind of furry and she said that she was a deer. If I'm not mistaken, deer have hair, not fur. Wouldn't that just make her a hairy?

Actually a deer can be a furry. Even birds and lizards can be furries.

Seriously?? This makes me sad and not because I lost that argument, but because the name implies fur and not all of what can be listed as a furry has fur. I don't like furries...

I like furries. I'm not one, but my friend is, and it's a really interesting lifestyle, which is why I've been "researching" it for a while. This is the General section thread I made on the subject. It seems to have more information than this one.

Furry isn't actually a sexual attraction to animals. That would be beastiality. Furries, or furries like myself, have an anthropomorphic character that they believe defines themselves in ways they could never show by themselves. These characters, or fursonas, are what furries are all about. That's what they draw, cosplay, and write as. Fursonas are like our "true selves", in a way. It is true, though, that some furries are also beastos or have a sexual attraction to anthros, but that's not all of us.

As said before it covers a wide range of characters in stories, people's preferences in entertainment, and yes, for some, an element of their sexual pleasure.

Thanks to the more extreme examples 'furry' is a tag not unlike 'weabo', 'trekkie' or ' Otaku'

And before you go bashing every 'furry' as a 'furfag' or accusing them of sexual devience, or weird animal spiritism beliefs....

such labeling would be EXACTLY as if I called everyone here a 'weabo' or an 'Otaku' just because you like imported japanese cartoons.

Furfags like anything humanoid that is 50% animal or more.

Go back to /b/.

I think a few people here summed it up well... in multiple ways.

Furries are people who find some sort of appeal in anthropomorphic characters and generally have fursonas that are said anthropomorphic characters that represent themselves. (I've seen some horrible creations man).

The largest art site for furries is furaffinity.net; be warned, it's scary and has more horrible artists than good.

Furries also love drama and are probably the internet's main source for it.

Do furry have sex and do they have costume on when intercourse is taking place. I f so I guess the musky odder must be pretty strong. Strange but but like I really care to each their own.

stereotypes. myself, what i have done is written (science and fantasy) fiction were the main characters were aliens, Genetic constructs, or magical beings who had human like attributes and animal-like features. They were, adequate, short fiction stories which I shared with a number of people who had no idea of the term furry and enjoyed the stories on their own merit.

Keep your goddamned smart ass predjudices to yourself.

Holy rabbits snares batman! a furry movie!

http://www.zomganime.com/cat-shit-one-episode-1/

please note the lack of sex.

for more information on one example of 'furry' read this wiki article
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albedo_Anthropomorphics

It seems fairly accurate from my knowledge as an early reader of Alebedo and a short story contributor to the magazine 'Refractions' 'mentioned within.
