I was thinking if i'll gonna post this on the 'What are your Religious Beliefs' thread, but i think, my topic will make it out off the topic.

I do believe - that God - as a supreme being is a man; therefore, he's a HE. But one of my friends don't believe God is a He nor she believes God is a She. Though one of my online friend - on the other forum - stated that God for her is a She. Reasons are of something like:
1. God was considered to be a woman because of the supreme being's ability to yield fruits and children.
2. Fertility was, and still is, associated with women thus the concept that god was a SHE.
3. How in the past god was considered to be a woman
4. How church (specifically, the roman catholic church) exerted efforts to abolish the concept of a SHE god and replaced it with the male concept of god.

I can accept her philosophy but i won't take it. I respect her cos she respected me. Whatever you believe in - if God is a He or a She - no one will question that.

For you, Do you think God is a He or a She?

I've always wondered this myself. I think they tell you that God is neither, but that the masculine form is widely accepted and used as a quasi-honorific.

Myself... Adam was created in the image of God, as a "helper". When God later created a helper in the image of Adam, it was a woman. Could the reflection of a reflection be the same same the original? Who the hell knows! Who am I to know how the alpha and the omega gender identifies? I am not sure if it'd change anything, really. Just make a bunch of single gender beings uncomfortable if they were wrong, really...

Like angels, neither. For the sake of a language as it's been for centuries, God is always referred in a masculine language, but it does not necessarily mean He is male.

Historically, unless gender was mentioned, supernatural beings and deities were usually referred in a masculine language while machines, the nature and similar were referred in a feminine language.

Edit: forgot my opinion -- God should be whatever each believer wants God to be. I don't believe in God, but I don't believe in forcing people to accept what or how God should be to them.

Neither, God is some tansgender outcast. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transgender

"I think they tell you that God is neither." Yea, I think thats the norm, but not neither, but rather a kind of both. That answer translated = "heck, we don't know" God is this spirit-thingy.

"God is a homo" Right...

I'm pretty sure God can be whatever he wants (I say "He" because it's a pain to say "He/She" all the time) I mean really, I don't think he has a set gender at all, he's a being that doesn't need one. Why would the God of both man and woman be a specific gender? I'm not saying he's both, but I just don't think God has one is all.

Another theory I thought about is maybe there are two Gods. A god and a goddess. I mean in many religions there are multiple beings of their rank, so why not this one?

Then again these are questions that will never fully be answered until we either die or have a very amazing miracle.

The notion that God was a he started all because people back then thought men are superior than women. That is the only reason prophets and messengers of God referred to God as a he, so that they would listen. Those who push that God can also be a she are what you call "pencil pushers" who force their "humanistic" ideas for the sake of propagating it. God has no gender. Only physical creatures have genders for one sole purpose...procreation. Heck, God does not need that.

We can not question man's opinion to God's gender cos it is yet to be proved or disproved – it’s arguable. If a person is a Christian – like me – believes that God is a man cos evidently, it is written in the bible. If you’re scientist or a philosopher, most probably you’ll take God is a woman.

I respect every single man’s judgment – like some people says, only your faith can answer this uncertainty.

There's absolutely no basis one way or the other. I can say anything and it will be just as likely as any other theory. I can say that God is an Alien and I'll be just as right as anyone else.
