One word: Anthropomorphism

If some of you guys want to limit God that way, go ahead. But if an omnipotent being such as God really exists, it has to be more than that, beyond our limited concepts and psychological heuristics such as seeing or assigning human characteristics to everything <_<

“The Ethiopians make their gods snub-nosed and black; the Thracians make theirs grey-eyed and red-haired ... And if oxen and horses and lions could draw with their hands and do what men can do, horses would draw the gods in the shape of horses, and oxen in the shape of oxen, each giving the gods bodies similar to their own.”
~ Xenophanes

To this doubtful Agnostic God is more abstract, so my answer is neither.

We can not question man's opinion to God's gender cos it is yet to be proved or disproved – it’s arguable. If a person is a Christian – like me – believes that God is a man cos evidently, it is written in the bible. If you’re scientist or a philosopher, most probably you’ll take God is a woman.

I respect every single man’s judgment – like some people says, only your faith can answer this uncertainty.

Lol you didn't read my post. So I repeat, the Catholic Church refer to God as Father just for the sake of tradition. God has no gender in fact "He" created gender.

Why does it - such as the existence of paedophiles - have to the deciding factor of whether to believe in God or a religion?

It doesn't make sense to me. You either believe in Him or you don't. Some believers say it's a necessary evil to balance out with a good deed or that it's there to test each believer's faith and commitment (correct me if I'm wrong).

In my view, paedophiles and stuff are part of the human nature and/or psychology.

Edit: I just realised that this is wandering into off-topic. My apologies.

Ok, i respect that but like i said, for me, God is a He cos that was the teaching i had at home, in the Church and in my community. We both have different perspective to this sensitive matter, and i don't force anyone to believe in what i believed in.

Most of the time, what a person believed is a result of the things he see and hear everyday. Yes, it may sound too traditional, but traditions won't be like that if people don't have the basis in the past.

Obviously neither.

God is beyond us.

We, as beings have no right to limit the existence or "gender" of God.

Genisis 1:27 of some version or other out of the hundreds upon hundreds. “God Created man in his image, in the divine image he created him, male and female he created him.

Perfectly clear, no wonder we don't have any problems.

BTW if its not clear, I find this thread ludicrous.

He. Notice they say our "Father" in heaven not our "Mother"?

When Jesus says "Father" that is obviously a metaphor. God is like a "Father." It has nothing to do with sex.

? I was making the point that discussing God doesn't mean we assume the Bible.
