Do you have a source??? Are you pulling this out of your dreams??? Please, provide a source, because no one knows what you're talking about.

It sounds like a great idea but...how do you compress air? You use electricity. How do you generate electricity? You burn coal.....

I was able to watch them feature that car in the "Future Cars" special on Discovery Channel. I believe it was made by some French inventors, and it basically utilizes compressed air to move a piston system.

It's relatively efficient, but the car, itself, has to be made of ultralight material, and it can only reach a top speed of around 30-40 MPH, if I'm not mistaken. Of course, it's not exactly perfect, since you need to compress the air, first and foremost ~ and the current systems that do that require air compressors... which run on gas...

Still, the application of the technology looks promising.

EDIT: did a little googling and I found a little forum discussing the special. Apparently, people believe it's a fraudulent report, and is just a media hype by the network:

Yeah I've seen this 'air car' It's been cleared for sale in Europe. I checked out it's specs and there is no way in hell I would drive that thing. To get it to work they have to compress air under the car in tanks to crazy levels. If a tank were to rupture, and there was a fire nearby ( like in an accident ) that thing would probably take out the block.

Here's a pic. Ugly as hell to me.

And a link to the story

old concept really, been used in mining for some time, mostly in underground coal mining since one spark can start a coal fire, most have been replaced by electric engines but some are still in use.

now all we need to do is find out how to make a car that runs on water

(actually scientists found out a way to use salt water as a fuel source if you put radioactive waves in it or something but im too lazy to google it up)

Well...hydrogen powered vehicle have greatly been studied, so it might happen one day.

Back to the point...today automotive internal combustion engine generate approximately 120psi or more during its combustion stroke. So if you using compressed air to spin this motor, you would need a fairly large tank that can hold a great amount of pressure. As for refill, where will one be able to fill this high pressurized tank? This is no where economical or efficient.
