コロッケ(Croquette) . . or 稲荷寿司 ( Inari )

I recommend people to try these two. Even if you don't live in Japan you can find these ingredients!

My favorites: Japanese Curry with Chicken Katsu. I spent a little time modifying a standard japanese curry recipe I found to mimic a yummy one I had that included apple. Guh, I should make some soon, it's been a few weeks. Also Tempura, Tamago Nigiri, Kitsune Udon (I like Udon noodles in general), Inarizushi, and Hamburger Steak if we count it.

Curry chicken, tempura and ramen. I'm serious about ramen, home-made traditional style is just the best. Even though it's still kinda low-brow, I love it.

Ramen and curry rice. Curry is also very easy to cook so I can always make some whenever the craving hits.

I find it funny that most responses are "ramen <3" because in Japan, eating ramen is looked down upon and is considered something only those of the dirt-poor class eat. No one who is Japanese will tell you that that is Japanese food. They will tell you it is trash.
And sushi...considering your sushi probably isn't coming straight from Japan, it is NOT sushi. It is a stylized assortment of some fish or another wrapped in rice nori with cucumber and avocado. You will rarely see avocado, and the only three true maki (which are what rolls are called) are kappa, tekka, and hamachi; cucumber, tuna, and yellowtail. THOSE ARE THE ONLY MAKI JAPANESE PEOPLE WILL TELL YOU IS SUSHI.
Japanese food is not 100% sushi either, how about okonomiyaki, korokke, yakitori, nikujaga, gomaae, gyudon, donburi. Anyone? Thought so. It's not all miso, sushi, ramen, and yakisoba.
