last i heard the nsx was canceled.
well at least put on hold for now due to economic difficulties.
a lot of car companies have canceled or postponed their big projects.

the title of this thread is wrong.. its not the next gen nsx.. that prototype might not even be called a nsx.. it should be called Honda's new supercar (thought that it had to be said again..

anyways, quite a few lengthy posts on the thread so dnt remember who said wat.. but somebody brought up the fact that the nsx had half the hp of most supercars and still gave it a good run for their money.. i totally agree with that, in fact all honda's IMO are built with that state of mind.. i agreed with everything that was said in that post except for the end where the suggestion of a twin turbo should be introduced.. that would pretty much ruin the reputation of honda.. Honda's are well known for the N/A aspect, and they still prove to be a threat to the twin turbos, supercharged, V6's, V8's and V10's.. i've been a honda fan for as long as i can remember and as a honda fan, i pride myself in being a N/A driver.. so if they introduce a twin/turbo, i know for a fact that i'd be disappointed coz they would be giving in.. but other than that.. fully agree with you.. honda build engines with half the power of their competitors and still give them a good run, that's sophisticated engineering at its best..

also.. i gotta say, that NSX-RR is looking pretty sexy.. XD

The next NSX, whatever they call it, will be a complete and under shadow of it's former self. With recent news of Honda's new CEO(original NSX designer) wanting to turn the next NSX into a "green" sports car, rather than a pure sports/super car. If the current news indicates anything of solid news, the next "NSX" will be front engined, rear/AWD, and be a hybrid. That's the ticket!!! Lets add weight to car by throwing on some batteries and an electric drive motor that will require the car to have a more powerful engine in order to counteract the added weight.

I love how former posts talk of Honda using a V10 sourced from their F1 cars. I think they stopped using V10s after the 2005 season, and since some of the older posts, Honda has sold it's team to Ross Brawn, which he in turn replaced the Honda powerplants with Mercedes units. Taa-daa, they started winning races.

If Honda could learn something from this, it would be if you want to make a fast sports car, use a Mercedes engine in a Honda chassis.

...it's on hold for one main reason.

they're afraid of being criticized on the body style.

the first pic on first post, was the original body style, but after many people declared the body style "LAME" .

honda/acura decided to start with a clean slate and redesign the body.( it's around this time you saw the next gen nsx or successor parts in a s2k' Guinea pig', that looked awkward)

but since i haven't kept up with the news, i have no idea if they finally chose a body.

all i know is, it's not a v10( if they used that to compete with gt-r35, a shame), they're probably still compete with a v6.

---

my 2 cents on what the build should be.

mid-engine awd,lol...either that or same platform (mid-rwd).

supercharged 3.5L V6 i-Vtec or a turbocharged 3.5L v6 i-Vtec
SC or Turbocharger, which ever gives it the needed torque.

with mugen parts *evil laugh*.

that's the only way i see it compete against the gt-r.

2-door coupe, weighs at least 200lbs lesser then the gt-r35 (if awd) or around 2700lbs. (if rwd)

o, and give it a real manual transmission...or go the rich way, i don't know, lol.

I doubt the NSX successor will ever come into production. Considering their actions (such as pulling out of Formula 1 due to economic reasons), Honda isn't likely to continue development nor the idea in these times. Surprisingly, they're pouring their funds in their Acura ALMS efforts. Honda will probably focus on the models that matter most, their bestselling "bread and butter" models rather than niche market cars like the NSX.

As for a successor for the S2000, rumors are that Honda is now targeting the Mazda MX-5 Miata.

Honda even mentioned now is a bad time to introduce the next gen. nsx ...seeing the economy tanks.

Like Toyota, honda's main ideal is to keep pursuing the "green car" trend.
