Totally in love with X-Japan! One of my biggest faves and all it took was one song.... LOL

Art of Life is really cool! Even if it last 30 minutes....

I have the Fan's choices cd ^^. Totally love both discs!! Yoshiki is marvelously superb!!!

YouTube has it in parts. Song wise, I have it from their album of the same name.

art of life really shows what songs used to be, what bands used to be, what music used to be. art of life isn't so much a song as it is a composition, its like listening to a godly metal symphony that isn't just 3 minutes of arpeggios (no disrespect yngwie) i think it really showcase's how good a band X was, how great music really was, and what visual kei is really about, while the looks accompany, its ultimately about great music, which i beileve to have been forgoten recently, with bad screamo vk bands, and the dreaded sound of orashe kei.

it really saddens me when i see art of life as the pinicale of visual kei, even though it was made by the first band. i think visual kei really started to go downhill though in the year 2000..or maybe even after hide's death, and kami to, or possibly it was gackt who stabbed it then left it stuck with a army of fangirls who will only care for looks and not the musical genius of some of these talented induvisuals. most of them will tell you how hot bou is, but will so yoshiwho, and i find that really sad : (

Not the best band ever but still one of the greatest. I have the whole show of their recent reunion for the Hide Memorial Summit.

So true. VK bands now are infested with manufactured clones worthy of Zerg Rush. Instead of trying to compete with each other in terms of music, they are competing about who has the biggest and weirdest female wardrobe. =\ X brought something new to the table for Japanese music. The glam look ala Poison was more of a shock rock thing, but their music was legendary. A lot of heavy metal influences were heard in songs like Dahlia, Blue Blood and Standing Sex, but they had a spark which made them unique. However, they were kinda overrated by the female audiences who liked their ballads only. I know Forever Love is a good song and all, but it was like what More Than Words did to Extreme.
Ironically, the year 2000 was the year that Luna Sea released their final album. Man, I would spin their stuff a lot when I was younger (not as much as Pantera though =P).

Music to people now basically means having lyrics about love, having a bunch of plastic people up on stage and prancing around like an idiot. People have lost the essence of good music. People like me (not being egoistic) strive to find music which speaks out emotionally and gives you an aspect of what they are trying to portray via instrumentation. I just can't find this in mainstream music anymore.
