Yeah i had all threem i like the third though, but a bunch of my Cd's got stolen now I'm trying to get all my good stuff back and it is hard now. Have you heard of devin the dude? he is from houston, he is more of a laid back type of rapper he spits some real shit though. he is not too complex though and form the list of arists that you like i dont know if you favor more of the complex rappers. oh yeah check out cool breeze he's from ATL. both of these guys are still doin there thing now but they came out in the time period that you like.

See for me it doesnt mather if its complex or not..... for me the mainline the flow of rapping just have to be euphoric combined with the beats (Beats are first Priority) Dont mather what they are rapping about as long as the flow is good on the beat.
I like it drifting and floating not a wack beat with nice rhymes or bad flow rap over a nice beat.....
Kinda hard to explain

Nah. I feel you that is why I think you will like cool breeze and devin the dude. check these 2 guys out and get back at me then we can go from there. Also i keep hearing alot things about a group called little brother; do you know anything about them?

Devin is a great lyricist of the south, sometimes i forget about him cuz hes kinda underground....

Little Brother ive heard some of they stuff, they are concious group... sadly they broke up... but ive peeped The Minstel Show, it was good, theirs one song on their called Cheatin (i think) man that song is the shit.... it will have u rollin, When they 1st came out they got a big buzz becuz they were talkin bad about BET in some of their lyrics, becuz they reinforce so much negativity on Blacks... but anyway.... u should check out

YEAH MAN DEVIN HAS BEEN ARE FOR YEARS. HE IS SO COOL AND LAID BACK. LITTLE BROTHER DAMN THEY BROKE UP WHERE HAVE I BEEN AT?
HOLLA AT ME.... I'LL BE IN THE BATHROOM BOO BOOIN'

Sweet man im just coming home from work... so ill check those guy's out when my friends are gone...

I have doing some searching too.. i found out that the Geto Boys and 2 live Crew are from the south too
well those guy get some credit from me not that they are my favorites but they have some nice songs i listen to so now and then.... and some Arrested Development songs are pretty ok too...
But besides that i think its a difference in style of rapping and beats that makes why i dont like most of the stuff
I would have liked to say i like a lot from the south but see Outkast shit isnt the thing i like....

I love the south, their non sense lyrics are funny and sometimes catchy, like MIKE JONES< WHO MIKE JONES that shit is hilarious and i used to love Goodie Mob, it ssome southern mc's who can run circles around some well known popular mc's today

What i miss in Southern rappers song, (mostly these new school cats) i was jammin some ol skool Ball & G & UGK... what i noticed was that now southern rappers dont have that ol skool flavor anymore.... i dont mean ol skool hip hop.... i mean that ol skool stuff your grandparents listened to, that smooth jazzy funky mello sound combined with the street poetry of modern times....

plus rappers that can stay on subject, if u gonna make a song about pimpin.... pleaz dont spend 1/2 a verse talkin bout your cars

There are some pretty raw underground artists from the south that I know of, like Strange Fruit Project, Cunninlynguists, and Little Brother.

Some mainstream artists from the south are alright, I like Ludacris, UGK, and Chamillionaire's ok (I like that Hip-Hop Police song he did with Slick Rick). Lil Wayne, he's decent I guess, I like a lot of his old music...he was featured on a song in the most recent Little Brother album. That Pussy Monster song is hella funny too haha.

This topic will eventually be turned into Regional US Hip hop (the rise of the South & midwest; the fall of the east & west....)

or something similar.... addressing US hip hop on a regional level... the competition, the segregation, etc.

crasyjak has upgraded drizza pre-existing topic

MY QUESTION:

Why is Florida Hip Hop the HOTT spot rite now..... no offense to any FL natives..... but the "talent" from there Flo-Rida, DJ Khaled, FatJoe (BX rapper but 2nd home is Miami), T-pain, Plies, Rick Ross

the music coming out aint all THAT great.... T-pain is strait & Khaled makes hot compilations/remixs

but idk.... why cant nobody else bring some heat?
