Playing the Game? ^^

wow, you seem to know a lot! ^^ what do you want me to say? ^^;; basically, i'm a gamer. i like playing the game better than watching the anime. so i don't know much about the anime, and honestly, i don't really like it. ^^;; the animes (from KOEI games) are always missing the funs and choices and points you can get by playing the games.

for instance, this is just a simple example :

in the anime, you know that nyx-sama has changed into a tanatos at the end of season 1. this, you cannot change. ^^

but! In the game, there are 2 options to this storylines.

1st option :
if you're aiming for one of the others (not nyx-sama), nyx-sama WILL be taken by erebos, then angelique (YOU in the game) and the other 3 aube hunters must go to the consortium and fight him, and then save him and take him back home. there's no choice in this, as you're NOT aiming for nyx-sama. ^^

2nd option :
you can only get this option when you're aiming for nyx-sama! if you have the ability (skill, level, heart points) required, then nyx-sama WILL NOT be taken by erebos. in fact, in the end, nyx-sama and angel and the other 3 aube hunters will go to the consortium and fight erebos together! ^^ this choice, is not available in the anime you will NEVER see it unless you play the game!

so, as you can see, i can get everything from the game, but i can't get some things from the anime... meaning, it's better to play than to watch! haha... ^^;;; this happens with all KOEI games (including kiniro no corda game series - which is by far the best and most complex game i've ever played! and harukanaru game series). some companies (like IDEA/DESIGN factory) release games with VERY SIMPLE storylines - like Hiiro no Kakera or Edel Blume - even though the stories are good and graphics are excellent, these games are very simple (you can play it with your eyes shut!). they're missing the excitement you can get with KOEI games... ^^;;

neo angelique abyss game is NOT the best from KOEI. even though a lot of people buy it, i think it doesn't have what it takes to be a memorable game. the plotline is simple, and there are only a few storylines you can uncover. unlike kiniro no corda... the first time i played kiniro no corda, i thought i was going crazy... everytime i touched NEW GAME, i always get DIFFERENT storylines... i guess i have uncovered at least 40 storylines in kiniro no corda AFTER playing it for 6 months, and still have to uncover more than 40 more! ^^

i still don't know the connections between those characters in neo angelique abyss with angel, because the game is in japanese and my japanese still sux... ^^;; when i play kiniro no corda, i had help from the game guides, artbooks, and manga. but neo angelique abyss doesn't have any game guide, or artbook, or complete manga, so far. so it's hard to understand unless i watch the anime (which i had, and still it's not complete!). ^^;; i'm so sorry if this is not helping at all!

Ah! Thank you so much! This sort of explains a few things.:-)

As you can see from my age in the profile (old, grouchy, rapidly approaching middle age and feeling it these days), I came of age when girls simply didn't play video games, or didn't admit it in public. Most of the games were meant for boys, teen boys and college boys. Le'ts just say I remember the first Ataris, Frogger and Donkey Kong. And played them - which made me friends with many of the guys, but a complete (and I mean COMPLETE) outcast among most of the girls. Unless they were as nerdy as myself which meant that we geek girls watched out for one another, for survival. When you have to use your drawing skills to keep from being beaten up by cheerleaders, you know you've reached the depths of nerd-dom. I did their portraits and in return I was allowed to live. Needless to say, I skipped my 20-year reunion last year.

I watch the anime simply because, with my work and school schedule as well as trying to keep up with the housework created by a husband and three rambunctious birds, I don't have time for more. I'd love to have the leisure time to play a console game or two. I used to study Japanese in high school, under the tutelage of a teacher who had taught there for a few years before returning to the States, but much of the writing still escapes me. I believe the anime lets Erebos take Nyx because it makes for a better story, with more long term potential for character growth, angst (v. important these days, apparently) and motivation on the part of the rest to both stop Erebos and save Nyx, in that order. In the meantime, the secondary characters in the harem are allowed to have developed back stories. I believe, in the next episode, that Hyuga's reasons for leaving the Silver Knights are explained, as well as the butterfly that seems to pop out whenever he needs to be herded in particular direction. Of the four so far, he's the least developed and I'd like to see what's going through his head, behind all of the noble manners and samurai-like behavior. Nyx has the corner of courtliness and excellent manners - Hyuga I could see in a hakima with his swords and his armor swearing fealty unto death to his daimyo.

I do understand the allure of playing a game, rather than simply watching a series of episodes - the control vs. simply being passive and shown information. Trust me, I like having control. Truly. It's so rare that one gets it in the real world (word of advice - always maintain control of the remote control. Once you've lost that, it's over - he'll channel flip like a maniac). I've downloaded the anime fo LaCorda and will probably work my way through it once this marketing research class is over, out of sheer curiosity. Koei's games are cute, but you are correct, some seem to be far more complex than the others. Perhaps the Neo Angelique game could have used more side stories and back plot, rather than just the straightforward story they seem to have going.

Which I suppose is why we have fanfiction.

Most of the Angelique info out there can be found at Marfisa's site, but I many of the links don't work - I think she was busy moving things to a better site and then abandoned the effort, since there seem to be two sites - you have to dig around for any mention of how Arcadia fits into the whole weird cosmology of the Angelique line of games and OVAs. This is probably the wrong forum to ask about the contents of Angelique Trois and the 2nd season of the Etoile series. The only things I guess I really need to know is what happened between Ange and Arios (or Ange and Zephyl, for that matter) at the end of that series (or game, I'll take either) and the whole beginnings of Arcadia thing. After reading some of the scant info on Marfisa's site, I'm going to go back and get rid of about 2 pages worth of stuff and rewrite it, to make it comply with the official chronology, such as it is.

Don't worry - I'm sure that Bernard and Rene's significance will be explained in the anime, but I was wondering if there were differences in those two areas from the anime to the game or whether or not they were similar to one another. I'm sure that a cheat code set or translations will be available eventually - the game was released earlier this year and there may not have been enough time for people to find the codes in the first place, nor make the Japanese - English transitions available.

Good luck with getting the rest of the cutscenes - I think you said you were going to try for a few more of those from the main four characters, correct?

well... ^^ don't say you're old unless you feel old! ^^;; in here, i don't think we care for age... ^^ and i do remember donkey kong! hahaha... that was my first handheld game console! and atari... omg... >< i still remember it! i'm a nerd too, although in my place it's not a bad thing. ^^ in here, people respect nerds... and we don't have the cheerleader squad hehehe... so i guess i was saved. ^^;;

i have finished bernard but his ending is not as good as i thought it would be. but maybe because the game isn't over yet. like i said before ^^ the game probably have more stories once i'm finished with rene, too. like in kiniro no corda 2-encore, when you have finished with all the characters, the game will give you options to start a whole new game with new endings and storylines. this also happens in hiiro no kakera game series. but i have to finish rene first to know... i can't finish him no matter how hard i tried... i do have the walkthroughs (code/cheat sets) but they're complicated, and the girl who made it pursued both rene and bernard at the same time. almost to the end, she saved the game and pursued bernard, and finished, and started from the saved game she pursued rene and finished... i tried to do the same thing, but failed. i still don't know what i did wrong... ^^;; i'm playing harukanaru jikuu no kade 4 right now so i don't think i'll be playing neo angelique again soon... ><

by the way, this is a spoiler and if you don't want to read it then it's okay... ^^ in the game (i don't know if it's going to be different in the anime or not), it is told that hyuga had killed his best friend because he (the friend) was infected by the tanatos. dion (hyuga's friend who's still a silver knight) knows about this, but couldn't help when hyuga decided to retire. it wasn't hyuga's fault. he didn't want to kill, but his friend insisted because (like nyx-sama) he knew what will happen if he kept living. in the game, hyuga slashed his sword into his friend's neck, cutting his head off... =.=;; after that, he never came back to the castle, because behind the castle there's a cemetery for silver knights, and there lays the tomb of his best friend. T.T in the game, if you're aiming for hyuga, he won't go into the castle. he will stay outside (often with dion) and let angel go alone through the gate. this is also useful if you want angel to pursue rene, because rene won't come out if there's anyone beside angel. ^^;;

also, there's another ending to nyx-sama vs erebos ending. if you're aiming for rayne, the ending will be like eps.12 of the anime (season 1), where angel goes to the consortium and lends her power for yorgo. in the game though, rayne doesn't agree with it, but angel goes alone without telling anyone. then when rayne finds out about it, he runs to the consortium and breaks the barrier to get to angel, but instead, he was sent (by angel's power) into the "abyss" or the unknown. he went MIA... missing in action. =.=;; then when everything's over and erebos is killed, angel comes to the castle and talks to the silver tree. and the silver tree will give her back... rayne. ^^ apparently, the silver tree catches rayne when he falls into the unknown and takes him back to angel.

Now, that's interesting!

I believe the silver tree is the symbolic focus of the life force of Arcadia (from some of the illustrations I've rooted out from various sources on the Web), i.e. Elba. Think Tolkien's White Tree, only w/o the whole elvish background. Now, whether it's just the planet's force, the force of their little cosmos or what have you, the tree contains that spirit. There are a couple of cards from the Angelique series that I came across in my research that explain, without words, what's sort of going on. I would assume that in the absence of a Queen, or Guardians, Arcadia was left to evolve on its own by the Seijuu Queens until it had enough mojo to create a queen for itself, rather than have one appointed from another universe, ala Collette. Hence the prophesies and the Organization of Silver Knights, meant to protect the Tree at all costs until the Queen came into her own and took over. It would also explain why the Knights have the powers and abilities they do - they're stand-ins for guardians and either get their purifying powers from the Tree itself, or proximity to it, or are born with the ability and are sent to Farian when it manifests (much like giving oneself to the church in the old medieval monastic or buddhist monastic tradition) to make their abilities stronger. Which is why Jinx failed - Jinx was manmade, while the power behind the Silver Knights is much older, stronger and deeper than anything the consortium could come up with.

I'd guessed as much from the previews of episode 4 regarding your spoiler - actually, that helped as far as defining Hyuga's inner demons. Geez, within the anime continuity, the whole Nyx thing must be really eating away at him. It would be difficult to live through that once, twice would really send one around the twist. In eps. 2, he as much as stated that he'd destroy Nyx if he had to to protect Angelique. In fact, I think he's expecting it. And that also gives me an idea of what the butterfly is: in many traditions, butterflies are seen as the equivalent of the human soul, or a manifestation of the soul after it emerges from the physical body and is free to fly (the chysalis standing in for the earthly human form). Whaddya think... that he's been carrying the weight of his best friend's death and the only way he can be relieved of it is to help the potential Queen realize her place and overcome each obstacle set in front of her? Perhaps his friend's spirit has become trapped here by Hyuga's pain and guilt and sought out Angelique in eps. 3, to get the ball rolling as far as Hyuga being able to forgive himself and move on?

The alternate Rayne ending is interesting - I wonder if there are similar types of endings, depending on who you are after with the whole erebos plotline? Curiouser and Curiouser... would it be Hyuga or JD cast off intot he Abyss if a player were after him, or just Rayne? Oh, this plays nicely into something I'd been plotting out as the series progresses - I'm glad you told me!

And now, unfortunately, I have to finish a research study critique, before midnight. Urgh. If you do find anything in the future that you could toss my way when you decide to pick up the game again, please let me know.

haha... it's funny that you really research into this thing! ^^ and speaking of white trees and elves... HYUGA is an ELF... ^^ he reminds me so much of Legolas... hehhe... and the butterfly, i think it's the soul of his friend, you know... it resides in Hyuga's body and will come out only if he needs help. the first time it came out, it was to find Angel and brought her to Hyuga ^^ right? because in the game, when Hyuga finally decided to visit his friend's grave, the same butterfly came out... >< i saw relieve in Dion's eyes when Hyuga finally stepped inside the gate!

speaking of alternate endings, there's another ending for Hyuga, too, in the game. ^^ if you're aiming for Hyuga, of course. when Erebos comes to claim Nyx-sama, Angel runs and tries to take back Nyx-sama by herself. no one expects this, but Hyuga, who is ALWAYS standing on guard (he will never be off-guard, i think... kinda like Kurogane in Tsubasa RC), runs after Angel and pulls her back just before Angel was able to touch Nyx-sama's hand... >< it was sad for Nyx-sama, but i can guess that Hyuga's hairs must be standing on end already. if he was late even for a second, Erebos would have succeeded in taken both Nyx-sama and the Queen's Egg... then Hyuga becomes VERY ANGRY and screams at Angel (this is probably the first and will never be told in the anime) but when Angel cries he suddenly kneels down and hugs her... ^^ hehe... i really want this to happen in the anime, though, mostly because it's romantic but more because Hyuga is my fave aube hunter!

in the game, you are requested to increase the aube hunters' level to Level 10 or above, because Nyx-sama will be Level 9 (when he becomes Tanatos) and Erebos itself is Level 10. you can increase all 4 aube hunters' levels, or just one of them (the one you're aiming for). this special Level 10 aube hunter will be the one who defeats Tanatos-Nyx-sama and Erebos, while the other 2 watches... ^^;; you will be required to choose this one before entering the consortium...

oh, i forgot to add... in the game, there are no Roche (i miss him, he's so funny!), Erenfried, Jet, and Mathias-sama. i think because it was released before the anime story was made. and then it was released again under the name NEO ANGELIQUE ABYSS FULL VOICE. that's why the images are so different.

in the game, MATHIAS IS THE SAME AS RENE. so Rene is the leader of the clan... ^^ as the Leader, Rene always wears a mask so no one recognises him. if you're aiming for Rene and comes to the castle without a friend (you can bring Hyuga because he will definitely stay outside the gate with Dion!), Rene will come and meet you. ^^ and when you come to the castle and request to meet the Leader after that, this time Rene will open his mask in front of you (after asking everyone else to leave).

Roche's part was taken entirely by Bernard. ^^ in the game, Bernard met Angel when she was very little (as shown in the CG image of Bernard i posted in my Angelique photo gallery). he was the one who gave her the necklace. in the game, Bernard resides in Farian and you can only meet him there. Angel always go everywhere with one of the aube hunter, so whenever she wants to see Bernard, she has to send her partner away first! hahaha... this is not good when your partner is Rayne because he often gets mad when Angel sends him away! ^^;;

Erenfried's part was taken by Yorgo. And JET is nowhere to be seen... hehehe... poor Jet ><

Well, to possibly channel Bernard here for a second, decent research into one's subject matter makes for a better story. It is surprising that they did not write the 'hunting of the orbs' into the anime, since it seems to be a part of the game and part of the one manga I saw transcribed from Japanese to Russian to English (so how much was lost in THAT translation I'll never know). What are the orbs used for (per the game storyline), other than for a score for Thanatos killed in gameplay? The anime doesn't really explain what they are, or why each of the Thanatos has one big red glow-y sphere stuck somewhere on its body.

I was wondering why Rene seemed so different (much younger looking and acting) in the anime than in the game - the stills I've seen of him in the game have him acting in a more knowing manner, less naive. Since Mathias and Roche seem made up for the anime (or to maybe round out the fill-ins for the Guardians), I'm curious to see whether the anime will attempt to give each of them some kind of elemental power of some kind, much like the previous versions of the series. And what Mathias's role is in the anime I'm not entirely certain about - the more I see, the more I think he's a tragic figure that's about to have his entire life ripped from him. He's alrady given Erenfried a shot at making a new enhancer chip - and as we all know, Erenfried's little projects have a habit of going out of control at the worst of all possible times. DOES NOT BODE WELL.

So far, I think I've come up with their associated elements: J.D. = Light, Jet = Darkness, Hyuga = Water, Erenfried = Steel, Bernard = Earth, Roche = Beauty and Dreams, Mathias = Wind, Rene = Greenery, Rayne = Fire. Nyx gets the role of the Protector taken by Dark Forces, a consistent theme throughout the series. The associations aren't perfect, by any means - there are a couple of characters that could take multiple elements and make them work. Then again,I don't think that the writers for this series were all that concerned with the concept of Guardians.

I don't think Hyuga is a classic Tolkien Elf - the closest thing I've seen to another race in Arcadia other than humans are the dragons that took in J.D. Not sure why they gave him pointy ears, but what the heck... I can work with that and make something plausable up. Though he does look it, doesn't he? I think he acts the Yoshino role from Haru (honorable samurai retainer). Any idea of what his social rank was? He isn't some long lost Prince, is he? I don't know much about what role the Dragons play in Arcadia, save for the rather peaceful pastime and enterprise of orange farming (LOL) - v. fearsome.

As far as a personal favorite, it would depend on the day that you asked. Most days, I'd take JD. Because he can cook. And clean and he works that apron, let me tell you. I know most of the viewers tend to favor Rayne, but give me a man that can dust and bake a souffle and still have a smile on his face. Bliss, I tell you. After that, I'd probably go with either Nyx or Bernard - I'd be able to have conversations with both of them, they're older and have a certain amount of life experience (and then some, if poor Nyx has been schlepping around for 50 years against his will). All of them are aesthetically appealing, but for me at least, there has to be something underneath the skin worth getting to know.

And the ability to vacuum. God, that's important.

hahahaha ^^ you really make me laugh this time, oneesan! anyway~ i like older men too. they're wiser. ^^;; but Hyuga is hot... hahaha... ^^ and i really like men who can fight. i love legolas, and i love hyuga ^^... and yes, he's an elf... heheh... he's an elf among humans. apparently, in arcadia, there are more not-human races. ^^ including a dragon race who grows oranges. haha... ^^;;

in the game, tanatos' aube (or "orbs") is used to increase levels for aube hunters. the point is, when a tanatos is killed, it pours out a light thingy that is called aube (in the game, it's written as aube (english alphabet a u b e, not japanese pronounciation ^^), not orb)... this aube can help increase the ability of someone to kill tanatos. ^^ so the more tanatos you kill, the higher your level will get. that's it. in the anime, this is not explained.

if suddenly in the anime roche + eren get some kind of magic (suddenly becomes aube hunters), i'll be dead. haha... ^^;; although mathias and jet do have the ability to be aube hunters.

About Jet and J.D.... I'm REALLY curious to know if they are real Artifacts from the time of the first couple of series (thousands of years ago, apparently) and the Ship of Stars, or whether or not the Consortium built them as sort of a 'proto-Jinx' project that went awry (the whole J.D escapes from the Institution and ends up with the dragonfolk). The technical nerd in me wants to see schematics. The wife in me just wants him to cook dinner for me on the nights I have to study and to work.

Older men are wise - depends on just how old we're talking here. My hubby is 40, still is built nicely and has an excellent sense of responsibility and has a sharp mind. Can't cook worth a darn though and housecleaning isn't his forte, though I haven't had to pay for any handyman work since we married (V. EXPENSIVE). Hyuga is hot, but I can't really see him joking around with anyone and a good sense of humor lasts much longer than good looks. Mathias strikes me as pretty, incredibly intellegent and would be well-suited to become the Leader of the Organization even if Rene hadn't been born. As far as the anime goes, I'm not sure he's really suited for life outside of the walls - he was a kid when they brought him in and he spent the next seven-eight years reading and memorizing history and law. Not a whole lot of jobs out there for former Popes I'm afraid. Rene, Roche and Erenfried are just way, WAAAY to young - as I said in a different forum - and Rayne, as cute as he is, is pushing it as far as my age requirements. So, that leaves Bernard, Nyx, J.D., Mathias, and Jet. I'd probably go with the first three, if given my druthers.

Nice pic posted to the other forun, BTW - would like to see the colored version once you're finished Photoshopping it.

argh~ ^^ oneesan! you see my drawing of nyx-sama? thank you! thank you! ^^;; i'm not very impressed with it... i did several wrong movements with his body and arms (which i later disguised with those flowers...)... >< i'm not very fond of nyx-sama. hyuga is still my #1 choice hehe... but... that one was requested by ange-chan ^^ and so i did it... in about 10 mins... ><;; i was about to draw another one (of hyuga this time) but then i played harukanaru 4 and decided to draw hiiragi (you can find it in my profile page)... i must find some time to draw hyuga and then colour up nyx-sama... T.T i'm doing my paper right now and i don't know where the hell i put my files in!! can't find them... *i'm dead!!*... i can't type them all up again... T.T~~~~ studying is so hard!

speaking about mature men... i think i'll prefer bernard over mathias ANYTIME! ^^;; but bernard is like a dad and i think he will probably stay that way once we (or angelique with him) got married... ><;; can mathias ever marry someone? isn't he prohibited to? i'm not familiar with the previous angelique series so i don't know anything about artifacts... but i guess that JD is not 100% artifacts. he's part human and part machine. they were trying to make a thinking machine (like the one we in this world are ALWAYS trying to create!) and so JD was created... that's why he has a heart. someone without a heart can't feel... if he's entirely a machine, then jinx is the same with JD and Jet... then why can't Jinx think about anything or feel anything?? ^^;;

i feel like talking about darwin's theory... if we're from monkeys, then how long does it take for monkeys in our time to become humans? hahaha...

how old is roche? o.O i like him because he's funny... like kazuki in kiniro no corda... ^^;;

btw oneesan! if you want mature men... maybe last escort 2 is better for you. CERO C++ (meaning the rating is for ADULT)... the youngest of them is Yuki (20 years old) and the oldest is Isei (32 years old)... ^^ i wish like the first last escort, this one will make it into an anime soon... can't wait... ^^;; but since it's for mature audiences (18++) it contains err... more mature storylines... still... i choose the 2nd youngest Reiji... just because he's so cute and baby-like and funny~ ^^;; hyuga... on the other hand, is probably chosen by my "dark side"... hahaha... sometimes i like to choose more than 1 type of guy in anime or game...

n.a.a. is going to have another game (this time for psp) and all the characters will be in it. i wonder if the story will change, or if it will be the same with the anime, or different... o.o;;

That's what I love about the Japanese. If the developers forget something in the game, or don't have the budget for more animations or CG's and the thing ends up taking off, then smart marketing says to go ahead and just release another slightly altered version, with more goodies for the fans AND the part they forgot in the first verison. I just wish the anime studios and the game developers would try to have a closer relationship as far as planning and plot development. *sighs*

I took today off of work for my mental health - so I'm baking sugar cookies (the dough is chilling), sending off the coded software to my classmates for them to check for errors and fill in data, tonight I will get caught up with the reading and the posting necessary for my forum participation credit and so on. So what did i actually do? Went online to search for possible Singapore torrets of the anime (only RAWS so far - this may take a bribe to SMS in the form of the aforementioned cookies to get them working on the 2nd series now that they have finished the first series in High Def. - not sure I can take much more of people whining about wanting to see eps. 3 when no one has subbed it or recorded and uploaded the singapore sub. I just keep pointing them to Veoh and hope someone listens :-P) and ran across a cheat sheet for the Etoile series. I think that if the way you are describing the NAA game is correct, there may be a number of alternate and extended endings going on - there are several higher endings in Etoile, based on the decisions made and apparent affinities - the more skilled one gets, apparently, there are at least two animations offered for the original guardians (I gotta ask, about Oscar... do the character developers know how heavy and cumbersome and PAINFUL wearing armor around ALL DAY is? I can see robes for the others, but Oscar apparently keeps skinny just by the calories burned by wearing about 60-70 lbs of steel ALL THE TIME. *shakes head*) AND animations and so on for the new guardians. 19 possibilities. Gads.... I have problems just keeping one husband happy. I can't imagine keeping 19 men happy or at least fond of you. No woman has that kind of energy. No one.

As for your art - don't apologize for anything - you've done very well for a linear rendering. Anime in general isn't 'life drawing' and proportion can be played with. the onlytime you should worry about it is if you're creating something for money and are working to someone else's specifications. Then it's called graphic design . Do what you enjoy because you enjoy it and you want to create - it's one of the better things about being a human being - our ability to create for nothing more than creation's sake. As soon as I have half a minute free, I'll try to post some NAA art. Won't be for a few more weeks, though, not until I get out of class and finish this freelance scroll and calligraphy piece I promised for a friend's wedding a year ago. They have been very patient and I have an 8-week window this autumn to finish this puppy before I'm officially off the party-invite list.

You might try something to get used to the proportions that the particular artists doing NAA are using (scale, arm and head and leg proportion, etc.). Take a screenshot of scenes you like, download it to about 150dpi and then print them out at the typical 8.5 x 11 sheet size. Then get some very thin tracing vellum, or the clear stuff if you can get to an art supply place. Then get some markers and just work the black outlines and darker areas - leave anything colored alone, to get the line drawing portion of the figures down. Once you build up enough muscle memory, you'll be able to draw the figure you've been working on (since you're a fan of Hyuga, try him - there isn't a great deal of color you need to worry about on him, just a lot of gray shades) and see what you come up with.

Speaking of the Silver Knights, I don't think that they're under any specific vows of celibacy. In eps 10, where Nyx takes Angelique to the party, There are a couple of Knights dancing with a few of the young ladies there, so I'm going to take a guess and say that for the average knight, marriage and relationships are not offlimits in the way they would be for priests, nuns and the whole of the Catholic hierarchy. So Hyuga could probably marry if he chose. Not sure what kind of marriage it would be, but it's still an option. Mathias... well, I'm not sure. I doubt that the elders of the Organization ever married - they don't seem the sort and Mathias seems to have his hands full just dealing with the situation at hand. Still, since Rene and Mathias are the same person in the Game, and Angelique is allowed to go after him, seems safe to assume that Mathias would have that option as well.

I understand about the studying - I'm in graduate school and the courses are crammed into 8 week sessions. I work all day and then go to class at night and I read my books on my lunch hour (when I get one). Fortunately, in grad school, you get to work with a team to get projects done. The down side is that you get to work with a team and if one or more people do not do their share, the whole group gets the 'C'. So I have to go and see just where my teammates are with their stuff. Hang in there.:-)

I understand about the connection issue - I'm fortunate enough to have a cable connection so I have high speed access for the most part. Plus, I live near a hub, so the speed is much better than if I lived farther away from the city center. :-)

How would you say that a dating game like this would compare to a visual novel? They seem like almost the same thing, like the reverse harems and such.

I've got about 7 chapters to read, data to download and input and some online questions I need to deal with (have to post or I lose points Like I did last week. This professor is better than the last at least.) So I will take this evening to get caught up.
the sugar cookies ended up soft - almost biscuity (for the Americans - the Brits are probably going 'It's a biscuit - of course its biscuity!"). Baking at 5280 feet above sea level is tricky. I've burned more cookies than I care to admit because I have to modify bake times and ingredients for the altitude. I envy those folk who don't have to worry about things like that. Must be nice to put in a cake and then actually have it come out properly, without having to do a ton of math and measuring to figure out how much flour to add.

I digress. I do love pancakes, but I have to watch the carb intake, so I only make those about once a month. The hubby doesn't like them (or he prefers eggs and bacon and such) to things like French Toast and pancakes. Of course, you can make healthy pancakes, such as buckwheat and whole grain and multigrain, but they just aren't quite the same as the plain od white-flour ones, or blueberry pancakes. Mmmmm.... Blueberries. Yum. You can tell I haven't had dinner yet *stomach rumbles*

Let me know when you finish Hyuga's stuff. I'd like to see it. :-)

Gomen - I meant virtual novel - my apologies. From what I can tell, with a virtual novel, there is little gameplay - just choices you make to get different endings, depending on the actions you choose thoughout the novel? They used to publish books like this when I was about 13 or so. You'd choose a particular action or make a particular decision and then you'd be directed to a different page where the story would continue until it was time to make a decision again and you'd do that until the story came to an end. It's a bit like that, right?

*yawns* It's 10:30 here and I still have to post to my school forum. :-P

I like the color version of Nyx - remember, the man does like flowers after all. He said as much in eps. 10, so I believe you've created something that fits with canon. Nice job on the shadowing - I'm assuming that you're using at least CS2 Photoshop?
I also like the background - he does look good in blue, doesn't he? Did you decide to do the raindrop background on purpose, or was it more of a 'hey, this is a really cool effect and I think it would look good here" sort of thing?

I keep telling myself I need to be on deviant art and then I tell myself, "I can either go to school, and get my MBA, or I can draw and do stuff with deviantart. I only have time for one". IBy day I'm a graphic designer for a YP directory and it's so NOT fun. It's really print production work. I feel tired and unwilling to pick up a pencil when I get home. I'm hoping to actually be fired within the next year, or at least downsized. That way I might actually start to like designing things again - especially if its something I want to draw rather than something I have to do for money. I probably should start something up like that - just in case I get downsized early and need to illustrate as a freelancer - I'd at least have something up for clients to look at.

Again, good job! I'd like to see Hyuga's when you finish him. Any idea of what color scheme would work for him, other than the usual silver, white and gray?

neesan ^^ i draw Hyuga... at last... but since he's sleeping... ^^;; i don't draw the body...
someday i'll draw his full body... ><;; when i have more time and creativity...
today... i just want to draw his gorgeous face... ^^ and this time i used a pencil instead of a pen.
so you can see, i put some shading into his eyes... gorgeous eyes... T.T melt me melt me...

a big version is available via deviantart... ^^;; i hope you like it??
this is truly depicts the soft side of hyuga... the side i really want to be shown more in the anime! ><

about virtual novels... now i understand... ^^ you mean dating games that doesn't have any RPG in them.
there are a lot, mostly from idea/design factory, like hiiro no kakera and edel blume.
i don't really like them (apart from the beautiful pictures and pretty guys~ ^^)...
i like the RPG ones better (dating + rpg can keep me stuck to my TV and playstation for hours on end)...
they're also more challenging... most games from koei are RPG though... ^^

it's kinda lame to produce virtual novels in ps2 versions... >< ps2 is a big game and should be RPG and stuff...
virtual novels should stay in portable devices such as nintendo DS and psp... =.=;;
they require little memory and we don't need to think to play the games...

ah you should join deviant... i want to see your graphics, too~ ^^;; you must be good!
it's always been my dream to work as a graphic designer. maybe someday i'll be one!
i want to work in the gaming industry... making otome's all the rest of my life! ^^ hehehe...

for hyuga, i'm thinking blue... o.O;; it will be the same as nyx though.... any idea, neesan?
