Yes... because of the research i've done, it seems that yaoi actually began with women empowerment in the culture. The fact that a man was as vulnerable for a woman, depicted in that way, kind of gave women the chance to live through the characters and give them the idea that women can have the same ideals as men... or thats what i've read at least.

wat does yaoi has anything to do with women enpowering? well, shouldnt women have the same ideals as a man...
i dont really get wat ur saying...

and yes i will introduce to them. i don't like yaoi/yuri but if they become that way... nothing i can do...

Various commentators have, then, argued that the bishoonen are not really 'men' but fantastic, androgynous creatures created by Japanese women as an expression of dissatisfaction with current gender stereotypes and the 'narrow life paths' which restrict women in the real world.[21]

[21] This is argued by both Matsui, 'Little Girls Were Little Boys,' and Buckley, 'Penguin in Bondage,' as well as Tomoko Aoyama, 'Male Homosexuality as Treated by Japanese Women Writers,' in The Japanese Trajectory: Modernization and Beyond, ed. Gavin McCormack and Y. Sugimoto, Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 1988.

Dude, if you need a Japanese cartoon depicting gay sex to give you ideas of equality then you are one sad individual.

So I guess nothing goes past its actual stated meaning. If your best friend says they hate you it means they must, and sarcasm has no role in society.

No author has ever written anything or an artist has ever created a piece of art that was supposed to be looked at and analyzed. When Hemingway wrote about the marlin in the old man and the sea he was mearly trying to tell you to stay away from catching fish that are too big for you. He was in no way trying to show mans ability to triumph over their own inner demons. the sea can not be looked at as the triumphs and tragedies that life or the fish as part of himself... for the fish struggles for survival and pulls the man further to see while he does everything in his power to keep from being beaten. of course not, its just a man on a boat fishing. Thats what the story is about.

Is it possible that people try to get points across through manga or comics? People of course don't use comic strips to fight against political ideals that they disagree with or anything else.

Lets grow up and maybe analyze something, look at it as more than a book, a movie, a manga, and actually use some mental capacity to draw forth other conclusions. Who knows, it could teach you something new...

Don't be an idiot i'm not trying to take it literally, of course things are meant to be analyzed. However if you really think that gay porn is a tool of empowerment for women then I find that to be a bit sad. Because lets face it, the guys depicted in said medium have no interest in women. If you wish to really use something to empower women wouldn't it make more sense to use a strong female protagonist?

Nope, I wouldn't introduce them to yaoi or yuri. It comes from quite an advanced school of thought and I'm not that liberal.

If they were to make a female protagonist... it would be womans triumph over men, not female equality.

By creating the characters the way they do, they are not so much trying to make women triumph. they are more trying to make it to where they can identify with the men. They show that a man can be as sensative and vulnerable as a female and allow women to connect strongly with the characters. They can live viceriously through the character. They create a character who is feminine in character and traits. With this it gives women a chance to feel that they can keep their feminine characteristics and still be able to have the power and respect of a man. Because even though the character is more feminine, they are still a man which means something, even if they are gay.

The charactes are also very androgynous so that the character is somewhat feminine in physique. They have slender bodies and soft features usually associated with women, which make it easier for them to connect with again.

It is not so much about making the woman all powerful, but making women equal in every way to a man.

I'm not trying to start anything here but do you honestly think that a woman who watches a yaoi will respond as follows:
"Wow, I just saw a guy put his
in another guy's
I feel that I can retain my femininity and still be the equal of a man!"

I'm sorry, but I've never viewed porn as a valid medium for conveying intellectual thought before, and I don't think i'm going to start to now.

You do realize we're talking about yaoi and not shounen-ai or BL right?

That's a very good question...
Since I'll probably have written at least one yuri by that time...depends if they ask: "What's this?"
Than I'll probably answer....

i will probably say 'yes' now because i am young and i have not got a kid and the feeling of loving somone like you love you children. In my head am scream ' yes, oh yes' becasue i love yaoi but i will not be doing that to my children because every parent want their children to remain pure and even if my child say "mama am gay". i will bust into sweet tears, because every loving parent want to have grandchildren but i will never stop loving him or her.

Another of watching yaoi is that if your child tell you am gay, Just think about the past yaoi you've watched and you know they are having a hot hot night.
