eun chae is the daughter of byun shik who was partly behind geom's father's death so do you think geom will mind that?
bong soon's and geom's love is still one-sided.
so who do you think he will get together with in the end?

Yeah your right LJKanimes, he'll end up with nobody. It is like the all time fate for a hero, that's just the way it is. But I think Bong Soon should win his heart, even though she won't. But Bong Soon is too strong for him physically and mentally. In this kind of tale it is always the soft and passive girl that wins the heart of the hero and not the strong. The way I see it, guys will always go for the passive, soft-hearted girl. Image

I don't think Iljimae is going to end up with anyone. Even if he does, we can't really consider that as true romance. I mean...come on. The two kids talked about birds for two minutes and didn't see each other for the next ten years. That's love?

Anyway, there's simply not enough time for them to be together. There are only six episodes left, and the producers gave out a statement saying that they won't try to make the show longer. They are running out of money to film more episodes, and even though there had been rumors of the show being extended to total of 22 episodes, that hasn't been clarified yet.

There are so many things that need to be answered. Is Iljimae ever going to find out that
** Spoiler Alert!!! click to hide or show**
And that
** Spoiler Alert!!! click to hide or show**
** Spoiler Alert!!! click to hide or show**
** Spoiler Alert!!! click to hide or show**
And so much more? I have a feeling the producers are going to end up rushing everything towards the end--which is going to suck big time because in my opinion, this show should've been at least 30 episodes long to begin with. But hey, the only thing we can do is blame the director for turning the main character into Iljimae so late.

yeah i think 20 episodes is way too short too. and i doubt everything going to be explained in the next 6 episodes plus romance.
there is hardly time for romance to take place.

That's what really sucks about historical shows like this one. The amount of money the producers have to spend filming it is much more than what would be spent on making a regular love-triangle drama. Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. Anyway, my guess is that the king will remain alive. He will cry and beg for mercy and forgiveness and turn all good...and maybe get his position taken away by his cousin or whatever. Because haha, if Iljimae ends up killing him, he will have the label "MURDERER" stuck on him throughout his life...even if the citizens hated the hell out of the king.

iljimae might become king because he has royal blood in him.
his father and the king were once sworn brothers.

well, part of the reason bong soon has a sad past is because of iljimae, he was the one who gave her older brother the jewelry thing and the ones after him thought bong soon's brother was iljimae and killed him.

it has been officially confirmed that there will be no extensions for iljimae.
it will be 20 episodes and everything will be squished into 6 episodes.

ILJIMAE WILL NOT EXTEND BEYOND 20 EPISODES

“Iljimae which has been enjoying high popularity with viewers will not have a drama extension nor an increase in broadcast time”, expressed Director Lee Yong Suk in a blog entry on his Cyworld minihompy recently on 3rd July.

This is a big decision considering that most Korean dramas tend to add more episodes or extending it’s broadcast time once they get a good reception from viewers about the drama or the ratings are on the high side. But Director Lee Yong Suk has confirmed that there are no plans to do so since it’s a big budget drama and they have already spent quite a lot already.

He added
The entire team has been working their butts off from last year till now filming this and it’s a pretty tough call for them to keep their energy levels going strong. Instead of having a great start but a lousy ending, we decided to stick to our original plan of 20 episodes and will give it our best shot right till the end. We hope that everyone can continue liking Iljimae and we need all your support.

Many media outlets have reported that “Iljimae” is unable to ask for a drama extension mainly due to severe budget constraints. But this is actually illogical because their contract with screenwriter, Choi Ran states that they must follow the script entirely without changes. And they have actually been filming it exactly as stated on the script from start till now.

It sucks that its only 20 episodes, but at least we get something. Now I prefer Bong Soon over Eun Chae, not only b/c I like Lee Young Ah, but I like Bong Soon's character as well. I think she's witty, and instead of getting w/someone that appears to be so perfect in every little thing... I rather see him get w/someone who's imperfect. However I do believe that he'll end up w/no one. Another sad ending like Hong Gil Dong. Image
