Who do you think L should be?

there is going to be an American version of Death Note...
and so i was wondering who would you choose to be L?

oh btw i am totally against Death Note being remade...
but if the trailer interests me then why not....

The production notes for the recent horror films Shutter and The Strangers both reveal that America's Vertigo Entertainment is developing a remake of the Death Note franchise and has hired Vlas and Charles Parlapanides to write the screenplay. In Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata's hit Death Note manga, a teenager finds a notebook with which he can put people to death by writing their names. He begins a self-anointed crusade against the criminals of the world, and a cat-and-mouse game begins with the authorities and one idiosyncratic genius detective.

Vertigo (no relation to DC Comics' Vertigo imprint or the United Kingdom's Vertigo Films) has developed or is developing remakes of Ju-on (The Grudge), Dark Water, Infernal Affairs (The Departed), Gin gwai (The Eye), Shutter, My Sassy Girl, Jungdok (Possession), and Janghwa, Hongryeon (The Uninvited). The Parlapanides brothers are writers and executive producers of Undercover, an update of the 21 Jump Street television series which is under development for the CW network.

The Death Note manga has already been adapted into two Japanese live-action films with one spinoff film, an animated television series, assorted television specials, and novels. Viz Media is releasing the manga, the anime series, and a novel, while Viz Pictures released the first Japanese live-action film in theaters in May.

Thats a hard thing to say..who should be L?

should be the only L...even though his inglish isnt perfect but no matter

Matsuyama Ken'ichi is the only person that is suitable to play the role of "L". They could change the entire cast into American actors but they must never change the actor for "L". It just wouldn't feel right. His name is already too attached to the character "L". His English in "L Change the world" is not perfect but it's not so bad either. If I managed to learn how to speak English with an American accent, then I'm sure Matsuyama Ken'ichi can too!

You gotta be kidding me! NO! NO WAY!!! Only Ken'ichi can pull L! no one else can! like every other japanese film, hollywood's going to butcher this one! No doubt about it! >=[

I can already tell that it's going to SUCK just because all the remakes that the Americans have TRIED on Japaneses films have all sucked and disappointed me..idk why they even try!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm american and even i don't agree with this crap! why can't they come up with their own ideas?? they steal everything from Japan. the US has run out of ideas and creativity regarding films so we search elsewhere...because we're stupid. Maybe it is because Deathnote is a cool storyline, but i think only the original will be worth watching.

Matsuyama Ken'ichi is L!! i still can't believe this! They should just use the same movie and have subs if the americans truely want to enjoy the movie ... no one can pull off L. I agree with "abliviate" Hollywood is totally going to butcher the movie, they did that with other movie remakes! thats what i think unless anyone thinks that jake gyllenhall can pull it off?
