For me Japan ...they have unique kind of film..and by the way Sadako the "white clothed and long haired lady" is japanese...not to mention "THE GRUDGE sequels" which even hollywood remake it....though some japanese films are not that scary ............though the storyline can make u shiver!

for me, right now - the thai movies (followed by korean).
`body #19`, `art of the devil(s)`, `the victim`, `shutter` etc.

the korean ones always have really good stories, thick plots etc.
superior film making skills.

japan hasn't put out anything really good in a long time.
the ghost girl with long hair in her face got old pretty fast.

for me i like japanese movies the best... because they can always give you a scare Image the ghost with white clothes and long black hair can be a cliche but it works... and other countries like koreia they try to make scary movies but they always have a point beside horror i dont know its diferent ^^ japanese horror movies are my favorite

this is just my opinion... i love Thai and korean horror movies... first of course, they have a plot... a storyline.. sorry for those who loved Japanese horror... although, they started the horror genre... they kinda overdoing the SADAKO character... well, i haven't seen all Japanese horror movie.. but if not for them... i think.. koreans, thais and every asian wont start doing all thse stuff... I really like Korean one, they have so kind of interesting aestheticism, very visual and quiet "pretty". I really luv aesthetic movies and moreover when it come for horror movies. I think thai horror movies are not bad neither, but in a rough way. I cannot said japanese horror are not good, i fell in love with asian cinema with Hideo Nakata's Dark Water so, but now the best of their movie are not about ghost or the one that are not abusing of the sadako image.

Ps: sorry if my english is a bit confusing...

My fascination with asian horror started with "the ring" (japanese) and it just grew from there, I found that I really enjoyed the style of the Japanese horror, but with the growth of horror films from other parts of asia such as thailand and korea I found that it realy doesn't make much of a difference where they come from, a good film is still a good film.
