While waiting for the new Fairy Tail to start...

The first time I came here was when they started doing simulcasts and paid memberships... before then I had literally never even heard of the site. All I know about it is what you all say, so I'm guessing it was another anime streaming site that just streamed anything and everything regardless of licenses.

I've always been more of a fansub downloader than streaming site visitor... still to this day the only streaming I do is through official sites, which is probably why I never heard of this place. So as someone who's only been here since the Spring 09 season I like the site the way it is now... from reading other posts I probably would have been annoyed by the chaos and quietly gone back to DDL or Torrent sites with no limits and lots of organization.

Back then, this site didn't do licenses. It only had what fan subbed stuff and there was so many shows on here, even shows that were already licensed, what they have today is no where near the amount from before. I remember when they announced they were going legitimate, I wasn't sure if would still be a good place to go at first. Though, I'm glad I stuck with it, because now I get to check out new stuff and it's legal unlike before. Though there are some things I miss, like being able to watch shows that are hard to find, like Big O, because that used to be on here, so there are a few downsides too.

The old times were really fun. I was never bored in this site and there were really many people to talk with. Before I deleted my old account, a new game was developed. I also met many people there, it was so fun. It was really amusing that there was a rock-paper-scissor battle :))) The chatroom was also filled with many people.

The old Crunchyroll I remember is the one that allowed me to embrace my anime fanaticism. No licenses or any of that, all the shows/movies I could watch. Sailor Moon and Nana were available - among many, many others. Also, the music videos.

It's definately gotten quiter over the years despite the fact that more people have appeared, it's amazing to think how active people used to be back then compared to now.

It was thanks to this site (and it's members) that i got into Dramas. I even watched my first one here on CR which was Great Teacher Onizuka starring Takashi Sorimachi. I haven't watched any on here for a while, besides the one off a few years back which was The Return of Il Ji-Mae. Still it was nice they were able to become official, many back then wondered if they could pull it off.

The old CR was the place i got mah family <3

neat lil group of friends watching anime recommending etc in the group, now? none of them is really active, its really rare to see one of them online here these days so that kinda sadness me.

I loved the old recommendations topic aswell, gave me alot of great anime gems that i'd never get to watch without it <3

The old design was also much better then this imo, the forums was aswell even though i never really posted lurkers ftw <3

Used to be one of the best places to watch anime aswell

Same with me, I discovered many good titles thanks to this site. It was also because of this site that I got into reading manga (buddies put in a good word for different mangas that it intrigued me).The forums used to be so active that there were times when I've been outposted by one or two people by just a matter of seconds (especially in the forum game section).

I remember there was an uproar in the forums when users heard about the major change in CR, but the licensing is good for legal and economic reasons. The only sad thing about it is the decrease in active users.

It really is sad. I visit every once in a while but I never get to see old friends be online. Good thing a few have become Facebook friends, I talk to them there.

I remenber that also, it's a shame the forums don't have the amount of people buzzing round like they used to (or the chat feature, always thought it was a bad move to get rid of it) my group used to keep me so busy i was here more often than i care to admit, that not the case now sadly. Although i still do check in everyday. As you posted below, it's the same for me, i hardly see any of my buddy list online anymore i've only seen 3 return recently. One i now only talk to on DA.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY MISS this layout.. we get to put music on our profile page.. people actually chat via guestbook and there was a chat room called crunchyland or something can't remember.. now that my friends are gone i seldom come here anymore, and just come and visit just for the fact that the link is still there on my top sites list..

I think I was in the second issue of CR's Onigiri online magazine.

Then, there's this CR's own wikipedia. That one was hilarious.

I was even in the underground CR.

Notifications back then were highlighted on red next to usernames. I liked it. It's even bold. Made me actually checked what the notifications about.
