The UK's First VK Artist? |

I was on Myspace checking out my friends band when I just decided to check out some of the J-Rock bands on the site when I just happened to find one that said this "Dissident Genro (FIRST UK VISUAL KEI BAND/SOLO!)". So I just had to check it out.
![]() http://www.myspace.com/dissidentgenro Here is their Bio (its taken right off the page: ** Spoiler Alert!!! click to hide or show** To understand the origins of Dissident Genro is a strange journey. Theoretically conceived on March 2008, Dissident Genro has been lying dormant under the guise of a different project name; This project's name was Geordi La Force. Formed in 2005 in the UK, Geordi La Force consisted of one man (guitar) and a Laptop with the occasional use of a projector showing various pop-culture images going in tandem with the music. Blasting technical instrumental metal with over-the-top lightening speed guitar solos, Geordi La Force rose to recognition throughout the year of 2007 playing consistently in the London UK area with various bands such as America's Cinemechanica, The Paper Chase, Japan's LITE and UK's Meet Me In St Louis. This success culminated in the self-released debut album entitled "Aulophobia". Geordi La Force's goals were to create instrumental music which was technical yet grooved and was listen-able, steering away from the tired self-indulgent hardcore metal stereotypes performed by so many bands today which have seemed to lost the art of the mighty riff. However Geordi La Force was merely one half of its creator's musical expression. The other half was calling to be heard, this was Dissident Genro. Formed by Geordi La Force's creator, Rimu, Dissident Genro is pioneering itself as the UK's first Visual Kei band. Consisting yet again of a single band member performing guitar/vocals and a Laptop, Dissident Genro hopes to be the first western Visual Kei band which will hopefully introduce the Visual Kei genre to a wider audience through not just the band's visuals, but its unique view and performance/writing of its music. Dissident Genro's music is hard to categorise as it has many sounds ranging from heavy groovy guitar riffs, beautiful sweeping orchestral strings, upbeat acoustic chords and melancholic piano melodies. Its influences lie with such Western artists such as Tears for Fears, Peter Gabriel, Pain of Salvation, Traindodge, Meshuggah and Japanese artists like The Gazette, Gackt, Ruins, Casiopea, T-SQUARE. As its creator Rimu states: "I want to musically marry my East and Western influences and create a uniqueness from the concoction. Like the unique and wonderful visuals many Visual Kei band's wow their audiences with today, i want to do the same but in a musical form whilst being part of the Visual Kei genre. I'm expressing every part of myself, musically, visually and culturally that i love with Dissident Genro." The music sounds pretty ok, but for some reason he reminded me of another solo artist coughmiyavicough whos music seems to have gone sour lately (sorry coughmiyavicough fans, I used to be a fan of his, so don't get all Bitchy at me). Anyways, I hope this guy has a very successful career. |

I guess the songs are ok, but I'd rather take my chances on Tokio Hotel.
[Still wondering why everyone hates Tokio Hotel though :P] |

I was just wondering what kind of program he uses in his laptop, 'cuz he's good at making things out of music, yes this guy's style is the same compared to miyavi, both good at guitars, but vocals are kinda weak, if there would be a next album, I hope this guy will do better.

An Cafe does a lot of cutesy pop songs like Nyappy in the Word and crossdress. Not only Bou though, Miku modeled for Angelic Pretty, the lolita brand. Everyone said Bill's hair was ugly too, but look at Maya from LM.C! Maybe it's just my love for J-rock that makes me like Tokio Hotel. The only problem with them is that they're not very creative in their songs or using their instruments. What made them popular was the fact that they were super young German boys who played their instruments well and could do Screamo. |

A lot of people don't know the difference between VK and J-rock. Even though so many bands are a mixture of both, VK adds appearance into the factor of their music. While in J-rock.... you can look like a bum at Budokan xD I consider J-rock simply as rock in the Japanese language. |

I've asked around. xD Of course, that is why it is called J-Rock as in Japanese Rock! ^^ |
