he probably shouldnt be considered a swordsman

I would have to say Mugen and Jin...but Mihawk is good too...and Kenpachi, he so strong he can kill without release of his zanpakuto, despite not knowing its name

You can argue that he is the strongest, but it's obvious he isn't the strongest swordsman. =P

technically Trunks isn't an anime swordsman because he rarely used his blade, at first he was using it a lot but later he stopped... I suppose you could say he was the "strongest" but if its a question of skill he wasn't that great

if he has a blade plus hes a DBZ charecter, then he should have sword handling skills.

Well his skill isn't very good. So he isn't a good candidate for "The Strongest Anime Swordsman" assuming "Strongest" is construed as great skill and not brute strength of which there is very little in swordsmanship.

Though Trunks may be strong (As the anime shows ridiculously strong people) he has little skill in swordsmanship and therefore as he may be stronger in physical strength than the strongest swordsman, he isn't a stronger swordsman.

I agree with Ice, all DBZ DB and DBGT characters were strong so if you were comparing to other anime swordsmen you couldn't really say they are that great since they were material artists and material arts consists of mainly non-weapon fighting styles a sword would be something they are proficient at

I agreed with you up until now. Martial (not material) Arts encompasses any highly structuralized system used in war. Weapon arts are just as many as Unarmed arts. Martial (The key word stemming from Mars, the Greek God of War; Pertaining to a method(art) of combat or military (martial) context.)

I will prose a new question with more interesting criteria;

"Which anime swordsman, if fighting under realistic circumstances, would be the most skilled?"

Note the "Fighting under realistic circumstances" so A DBZ character would try and do their shit and end up falling on their ass due to physics and gravity, of which they are not used to. So in this context, since DBZ characters trained by breaking the limits of physics, their training would be their own downfall. They could not use their powers and therefore a simple student Jujutsuka like me would be able to easily unbalance them and break their arm. ;)
