Post Reply german idioms

hi ^ ^

this topic is for all kinds of german idioms, so that people who are interested in learning this cool language have an impression of how funny (and strange at the sime time) germans can be.
the cool thing is that every region of germany has it's own quotes, so I hope we get some interesting stuff together!! =D

I will start:

"es ist doch zum mäuse melken!!!"

"it is for milking mice!!!"

something like 'it sucks!!!'

Haha yeah, that's funny I have a quote of my mother. She always says that, when she is angry about something This sentence really makes no sense, but I always have to laugh, when she says it again

"Ich kotz in den Koffer!"

"I barf in the suitcase!"

why would you shake your head with this type of quotes?

because if you think about and try to visualize them you see that they're funny, but don't make any sense ^ ^
I mean, did you ever milk a mouse? hahahhahahaha ^ ^ well, thanks for creating this group btw! =)

Haha, then give us a quote

I have another quote That`s from my father. When he is angry about something, he says:

"Da geht mir der Hut hoch!" but that sounds more funny in my dialect --> "Da geht mor dor Hutt hoch!"

In english it is... ehm, how to translate this? Maybe "There goes me my hat high!" Sorry, my english is horrible

"Wie Kraut und Rüben"

"Like cabbage and beetroot"

---> higgledy-piggledy/ pellmell/ topsy-turvy
