Is America goingthrough another depression?

Gas going up, Ordinary things going up in price------- What are we going to do?

Because gas prices are going up, we cant afford to buy other things that we usually would buy.
Now grocery bills and clothes are going up in price..

I say possibly. It'll hopefully repair itself in the next few months.

America won't go into a depression; America isn't the only country that is suffering from the oil price hikes; Other countries are getting more disadvantages than America; They can always cut back on the military expenses that were used in unnecessary wars. I believe a great sum of surplussed funds will come from that.

well at least people will stop being fat and walk/ride bikes. also, with the price of food increasing people won't buy so much bread and other processed foods. maybe *GASP* they'll make their own food.

Sadly, America is in a depression but it doesn't really compare to the worst depression we've ever had in the past or the depression that other countries go thru.

As far as cutting military expenses, well there are things that could be done and things that will be done. There are likely to be alot of budget cutting they could do from certain areas but that actually happening is a totally different story.

Rising oil prices isn't the only factor playing into this bleak picture. Property value has taken a steep nose dive and if you take a look into the real estate market, you'll find the current prices of houses to be ridiculously cheap, even here in California. There are too many households who can't keep a job and are forced into foreclosure, so the banks get claim to the homes and sell it at a low cost (and for the most part, with some very good benefits such as low apr or a more flexible contract).

Speaking of banks, ever see those "FDIC" insurance policy stickers they have stuck up at every teller? The national treasury can't even cover that claim.

Sure, there are plenty of things we can do to bump the economy back up -- however, it's not going to be a one night fix. This decline will most definately last more than a couple of years and it'll prove a "survival of the fittest" since there have also been cut funds for college education. As if college wasn't difficult enough! You better show your wits or show your greens if you want to make it through!

Anyway, I just think the next president has a pile of tough shit to sift through. Or drown. Either one.
