I'm all for supporting and not supporting the industry at the same time. It's true that fansubs destroys the anime industry as fansubs are a form of piracy. If everyone out there obtains subbed versions way before it's actually obtained by a legit distributor, there's no need for licensing and there's no need to distribute if everyone's seen it already.

On the other hand, the industry is being total idiots about it. The way they are managing the current process is incredibly wrong. And they only have themselves to blame if they put a horrible mark-up on anime as well as ruin it with bad dubbings. I've seen good dubbings but those are rare and few inbetween. Digital rights management is a horrible complicated mess as well.

Fansubs will not go away until the industry finds a way to be _competitive_ with fansubs. The solution isn't to ban fansubs, it's to make them obselete and useless.

Free, free, free. Everyone loves free~! But it's always at someone's expense, and in this case it's the Anime industry right? Okay many ( I'm saying this cuz I know there are people who like dub.) of us hate dub but the Anime inidustry is pinching through any profitable way that they can continue. Japanese already know of anime so the Anime industry has to go to other places and try to sell. Partly it is our fault because we are receiving and using fansubs, and so there is no profit to the industry. I feel guilty too right now cuz I'm on CR, technically it's okay because CR removes all the animes in which are licensed. GONZO is working with CR and so far ( that I know of ) I hear no arguing or flying fists..

^Do I make any sense at all or is that just a bunch of jumbled words?

The last time I bought a DVD from guys like Geneon, half the episodes didn't even play. Some might say that fan-subs are killing the industry, but they are actually spreading it. Before I ever started watching anime from fansubs, the only exposure I had was from North American tv, and to be honest, I wasn't that impessed. The only show I liked was DBZ. Later in my life I saw dubbed One Piece, Witch Hunter Robin, and a few more, and I hated them. I wasn't that big of a fan of anime, until i started watching it with Japanes voices a couple years ago. Fan-subs offer a greater selection to the people and retain more of the original integrity. I doubt that I could find Honey and Clover, Library War, or Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei on a DVD rack here in Canada. If fan-subs weren't created, then anime wouldn't be relevent to me nor would it be to a large portion of current anime fans.
