Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Actually Kaname is the ancient ancestors of the Kuran family. He was resurrected by the evil uncle (Rido Kuran) of Yuuki Kuran hence he himself cannot protect Yuuki being that Rido is his vampire "master". While Yuuki is still a child, Kaname was adopted by Yuuki's parents hence he became her defacto adopted brother but in reality he is her ancestor. Kaname is a shinso or first progenitor of the Kuran family of vampires. And in the vampire culture it is apparently very common for family members/relatives to inter-marry each other in order to maintain blood purity (a practice done by some in the real world). Also apparently vampires are immune to genetic defects from same blood (incestous) marriage.

watch episode 8! it is there that we are told that kaname and yuuki are siblings. that yuuki was born the pureblood daughter of haruka and juuri kuran, the parents of kaname kuran who is the spirt of the kuran ancestor whose spirt is in the body of the son of haruka and juuri. yuuki doesnt know anything about this little secret and was raised thinking of kaname as her brother and kaname was publicly raised as the son haruka and juuri kurann.

YUKI AND KANAME were not siblings....... grrrr....
when it comes to the soul they were not siblings because kaname the ANCESTOR is living inside kaname's body .. brother of yuki..
"when rido put/transfer the soul of ancestor inside kaname's body"
but when it comes to the body yuki and kaname were siblings...
In short they will have an incest relationship because kaname the ANCESTOR is living inside kaname's body which is brother of yuki...
