By the way I totally agree with renmibo. I read and watch Fruits Basket, and sometimes I really dislike the changes. Anime to Manga definitely. The changes in Manga to Anime make me choose the other option :P

an anime made from a manga is like a different shot at the same story. they aren't supposed to be exactly the same, they're just a different take

A lot of the time an anime is different from the manga it's based off of, because when the anime starts, the manga still isn't finished. Then eventually, the manga passes the anime, and they have to come up with their own ending. Sometimes, just the fillers mess up the plot though and the anime never gets an "ending" and it's difficult to follow the manga after.

Also, sometimes they change for the anime in order to fit their time issues. They add stuff in or take stuff out. Sometimes though, they just change stuff for the heck of it and everyone's left wondering why...

But what I really don't get is why a manga adaptation of something that started as an anime can be so incredibly different and crappy? It's usually like that and it's always bothered me. I get that people don't want to read the same thing they just watched, but add in more jokes or character development...don't change the plot it's lame.

Well, that's just how I view this whole topic I guess.

i'd rather sit back, relax, and watch anime than read a manga.... though manga has better stories to tell and quite handy in from place to place...

I'm not sure about anime to manga, but the reason why anime version of manga is so different is obvious....
when the company makes anime version of manga, they can't keep up with the storyline, so most of anime make their own storyline by the time when they are running out materials. Such examples would be Fullmetal Alchemist, Naruto, One Piece, Fruit Basket, and etc..

That is a hard one. Manga tends to be more detailed; letting more of the story be released. (Furuba) The art sometimes is better as well (VK)

But, for example, The Good Witch of the West, both the anime and manga were gorgeous!

Basically because their not the same people?...the people who do the anime is a compilation of a group ... and the manga... could be a compilation of group ... maybe not... So they don't really go by what the other group is doing.... but for sure they are different groups... So basically 1 guy who oversees everything... but he doesn't let them be stifled by creativity just because one the anime or manga group is going in a different direction

Maybe he likes both versions so he's letting 2 stories be played out?...

Actually, the thing is that the anime actually keeps up with the manga, but then actually goes past it sometimes--such as DBZ, Rurouni Kenshin, Naruto--and so the series goes off track and there's just episodes where they just talk throughout the episode or spend 5 episodes charging up for a spirit bomb.

Though, I believe that, the Naruto manga's far enough that they should be all right for 'bout 50 or so episodes to be filler free.
