Sure, mainland doesn't usually produce "idol dramas," but they still have some, like the Butterfly Lovers, Good Morning, Shanghai, Bratty Princess, Warriors of the Yang Clan, and the Lotus Lantern.

But wuxia dramas are so awesome! Just because they were set in the old times doesn't mean they don't have drama, romance, humor, etc...and Jin Yong's stories are so popular in Asia!

They also have so many amazing historical fiction dramas based on real events, like Han Wu Da Di, Kang Xi Wang Chao, Da Zhai Men, etc.

So why don't people on the internet sub/watch/like mainland dramas?

Right, after now seeing the next few episodes of Demi-Gods...., I am fully addicted to it, it's just so magical :D.
I think Crystal Liu is amazing, so I plan to watch Return Of Condor Heroes afterwards (or maybe with the drama, depending on how impatient I am)
Do you have any other wuxia reccomendations? I think this may be my new addiction lol.

yay! Return of the Condor Heroes is slower than Demi-Gods, and is only on Youtube, but I just really like looking at it because it's so pretty.
Other wuxia recommendations? The one that got me addicted was Legend of the Condor Heroes, because Huang Rong is just too amazing, but the '03 versions leads are pretty bad. I would recommend '83 version, but I don't know anywhere where you can find it online. You could always wait for Ariel and Hu Ge's version, but the plotline will be mainly focused on the two couples and it will be converted into a semi-idol drama.
Other than that, Dragon Saber and Heavenly Sword, the last one is the Condor Heroes "trilogy," is pretty good. I've only watched the Alec Su version, and it's not bad.
And ...Young Warriors of the Yang Clan (2006) is pretty good, but it's more of an "idol" drama than a wuxia one.
Duke of Mount Deer/ The Royal Tramp is also highly popular (every male I know, it's their favorite work by Jin Yong...but that's only because they all want to have seven wives), but I never watched it.

I watched Wuxia dramas that are Vietnamese dubbed.
I've yet to see one with English subtitles, it would be nice to, though. (:

I highly recommend Chinese Paladin!
I'm so in love with this drama and it was my topic of the day from when i started watching till perhaps 2weeks after i finish watching!

absolutely love the funny parts in the show (Ah Nu is damn hilarious!)
ohh and Crystal Liu is the lead character in it

and yes, Young Warriors of the Yang Clan is good! but I've only watched the 2006 version, and really love it! on par with Chinese Paladin.
This is the only show that the characters made me feel so damn freaking involved with, they cry i cry. they laugh, i laugh. they feel hurt, i feel it too. amazing drama i must say
