Well, while I was reading H.G. Wells' novel, The Time Machine, I incidently found a chapter that was supposively taken out of the original book, but later released as a short story. It was called The Grey Man.

I haven't fully read the The Grey Man, but it seems to talk about how the Time Traveler, the protagonist of The Time Machine, witnessing the destruction of time, or more specifically, how his time travelling destroyed the most of the earth that we stand on.

I found them both curious, both the title and the theme. Any discussion is highly accepted, except for flames..... and trolls, especially trolls.

Well I guess that could make sense, since Allen is referred to in the beginning as the destroyer of time (or something like that)....so that would go along with the premise of the story....that is pretty clever (if that was the original intention)

i think that Hoshino Katsura might adapt the story from that book.

Wikipedia also have information on the D.Gray Man (Dorian Gray Man)

That's pretty wickedd, considering how the titles and concept are related. I think they are both indeed somehow related, about how Allen destroys time, only thing is that the characters might be different obviously.

i don't think that's where the title came from
i have a shonen jump magazine with a gray-man chapter in it
and in one of the articles it says:
If one were to examine the colorful world which we live, this planet soaked in the rich, vibrant colors of nature and its whims, it would be plain to see that the divine palette out of which humankind was fashioned has but two colors: black and white, good and evil. And for most human beings, gray is the default setting.
this is how it explains how the author came up with the title
gray is the color when good and evil is mixed
d stands for default setting
